Nice first impression, but the square is not having a soul. Besides that it is a rather boring choices of restaurants/cafes at the square. McDonalds seems to be the choice for many tourists. I had a breakfast at McDonalds (very slow service should not be a trade-mark for fast food chain). It is strangely hard to find appealing options for breakfasts in the city centre of Batumi (considerating the vast number of bars and restaurants). Besides that the square does not talk to me. You will find better options at other places in Batumi.

Batumi's place is similar to the squares in Europe. Important works and symbols of the city are here. It is the place with the highest concentration of tourists. The Medea statue and the astronomical clock tower are interesting. It's a nice place to take a breather in a city full of huge skyscrapers.

The square’s central location and lively atmosphere are definite highlights. The surrounding architecture and open space create a pleasant environment. However, I felt that some aspects could be improved. Europe Square has potential, but a few enhancements could make it an even more enjoyable destination.

I was told that Batumi was Misha's (Mikheil Saakashvili) baby, so he focused his architectural experiments here. As is the case with Tbilisi, a lot of his projects are controversial and people are strongly divided on their merits. I think he has succeeded in cranking up tourism, which must be a good thing for Georgia.
Europe Square did not appeal to me, but looking at the rating on TA, most people disagree with me. The world would be boring if we all had the same taste . . .

Europe square is very impressive it is filled with a lot of casinos, stores high-rise buildings,restaurants and impressive buildimgs. It is generally a very lively part of downtown. If you like the nightlife or just having fun hanging out..here is the square for you.

We enjoyed strolling at Europe Square in charming Batumi. The area is very beautiful and clean. The architecture of the buildings there is gorgeous. I strongly recommend this attraction to Batumi visitors.

A detour may not be needed as this square is smack drab in the middle of the city, you may pass it numerous times when walking anywhere and back. Stop for 5 minutes to admire the column supporting a statue of Joson [the Greek antiquity hero] holding his newly acquired golden fleece. The square is fedicated to Medea, Jason's lover who helped him acquire the fleece [and with it his kingdom] Medea, the legend says, was a native of what is now Georgia. But she was also a cruel witch and murderer, who, to help her lover Jason, murdered her own brother, than murdered Jason father [and caused his sisters to go insane with sorrow] then also murdered her own 2 children to spite Jason of whom she became jealous. Well, not a role model to build a square for...
But the square vis nice, and noteworthy is the astronomical clock on the northernmost corner. You may gaze at it trying to depict which of its many hands shows you the hour, that is, how is it useful?

Pleasant open air space in the City Centre. We were there on Seafarers Day when the traffic was excluded and entertainment (live music) and a small market. Surrounding architecture and restaurants etc make it worth a visit.
