We went for private 2 days trip from Serekunda - Faraffeni - Wassau stone circles - Gambia river - Janjanbureh - Brikamaba - Brikama market. Our guide Demba was just amazing, gave us a lot of information about history and living style of Gambia. He took care about us all the time, giving us fresh drinks and making us smile :) we had a great opportunity to see the chimpanzees and baboons on the river Gambia, to meet and spend some time with the local people, take knowledge about the great Gambian history of slavery. We would definitely recommend Ecotours to everyone.

We went on a bespoke 3 night 4 day tour with Amadou from Ecotours. We were 2 people with Amadou as guide. We contacted a few tour guides with good reviews from the UK which included Ecotours. We then had a few days after arriving in The Gambia to ask around and contact other operators. Apart from quoting the most competative price Amadou was the only person who actually seemed to have understood what we were asking for, rather than either giving a generic tour itinerary or a  vague response with no real itinerary. The tour overall was fantastic and we thank Amadou for making it so. A brief itinerary: Day 1 - picked up from hotel (early!), ferry crossing from Banjul to north of the River Gambia, stop for breakfast, drive to Wassu Stone Circle, lunch, drive to Kantaur, boat trip to Baboon Island (we saw hippos, chimps and other wildlife), drive to Jangjanbureh for dinner and overnight stay. Day 2 - breakfast, walking city tour of Jangjanbureh, drive to rice fields for a walk and tour, visit local family in remote village, lunch, drive to Tendaba camp for a few hours relaxation (they have lovely accommodation and swimming pool), dinner and overnight stay. Day 3 - breakfast, long boat trip to mangroves to see lots of birds (we loved this trip!). Drive to have lunch then to Bintang. Village tour with local guide. Dinner and overnight stay. Day 4 - drive to Makasutu forest. Boat trip and forest walk with guide. Drive back to our accommodation early afternoon At each stage of the trip Amadou had arranged local guides to show us around. They were, without exception, knowledgeable and engaging and could answer any questions we had. We also got the opportunity to see places others may not have done with a generic guide. Amadou has many contacts throughout the Gambia which made this possible Best points Excellent and prompt communication both before and after arriving in The Gambia. Professional approach. Polite. Always on time to meetings and pick ups. Actually listening to what we wanted. Competative price. Excellent local tour guides. Ecotours sponsors a school in Serrekunda with a percentage of profits. Other No bad points but just to note, if you have dietary requirements make this very clear from the start. The lunch and overnight places cannot always source ingredients so you may need to be flexible or plan ahead. Would definitely recommend Ecotours. I think we had an excellent  experience of the real Gambia. Amadou is professional, personable,  knowledgeable and this, along with his local knowledge and contacts really made this the experience we wanted. Thank you.

We had a trip together with Demba WHO worked at Ecoutours, he was a very good storyteller and knew many interessant places. I just found it strange, that lunch was included for US, but NOT for him, Ecotours should take better care of their personel. We of course paid his lunch.

My girlfriend and I spent two weeks at the Lemon Creek Hotel so Ecotours were very convenient but they were also great quality. Demba was our guide for the 'roots' tour and the safari park in Senegal. Despite the difficult nature of the roots tour (learning how the Gambia and its people were impacted by the slave trade) we felt it was a very important part to visiting Gambia and Demba's local knowledge and charm made both trips enjoyable. We were lucky enough to see a rhino, giraffes, zebra, Eland and much more in the safari park. We also went on the two day tour to Georgetown and back with Amadou, who looked after us extremely well and his passion for his country and his support of local communities made us proud to be supporting his tour company. Particular highlights were the very warm welcome at the village community we visited, seeing a family of wild hippos on the boat trip and experiencing good local food for every meal. Highly recommend!

I was on a work trip in The Gambia and took the opportunity during the weekend to do some tourism. The people from Ecotours were extremely friendly and even though it was ramadan and they were fasting, their smiles and energy were way greater than mine! My guide, Demba, and our smiling driver, William, are real jewels!!!! Looking forward to going back and continue exploring the country!!
