It's worth the drive. Stunningly beautiful landscape the whole way, often along the Rio Chama. Great gift shop, easy walking around the property and the monastery is a peaceful, beautiful place to spend quite time.

The bumpy dirt road (several miles) was not expected. Once on the property, we could wander, attend noontime prayer service, and enjoy the most remote monastery in the western hemisphere.

The setting is GORGEOUS. The chapel is a modern architectural gem and the mural in the dining hall is not to be missed! Guest rooms circle around a lovely courtyard with sweet views of the rock. It's a 5-minute walk down the main road to...More

The parking lot is about 1/2 mile walk from the monastery. Great place that is tucked in to the middle of beautiful scenes.

A beautiful chapel nestled in the Chama River canyon. Not much to do here, but look and enjoy the peace of the canyon. The Benedictine monks mostly keep to themselves and silence is encouraged (and appreciated!). They do have a bookstore.

We took the 13 mile ride down the dirt road along the Chama River. The scenery is so spectacular that you see beautiful views in every direction for the entire route. Be aware, however, that driving the curvey and narrow path along the precipice of...More

The monastery is 13 miles on gravel road. Very remote area. I'd rent a car for sure.

I don't believe there is a cafe in Santa Fe run by Benedictines but there is a shop on Don Gaspar, across from the Inn of the Governors, called The Monk's Corner connected to the Benedictines, I think.
