Don’t miss the guide

Nice museum, has texts in English as well. More information on specific topics would have been nice, such as an explanation about the spacesuits or spacefood. The guidestalks were terrific, don’t miss them.

The museum is worth a visit

A delayed launch was changed to our tour date so our tour was cancelled! Nothing to be done. We applied for and received tickets to the launch - only to have it delayed again.
Our only choice left was the museum. Having read a few poor reviews I was not expecting much. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The museum is worth a visit.
Enjoy.

There is some good information here, well presented and helpful reminders of the history and nature of space and its exploration. There are some good exhibits including a complex Viking engine. There are some good interactive activities on the ground floor. Yes it does need a little updating and some more interactive displays would be good

You wouldn't think we were in a high tech center at the pinnacle of space scientific technology in the 21st century by visiting this museum.

They charge Euro 7 or Euro 4 if you do the free space center tour on the same day and get a discount coupon from the tour guide at the end of your tour. Note that while the museum can be visited without a booking, you need to book the tour at least 48 hours in advance (weekends and public holidays excluded). You can wait a long time to get a response if you e-mail them in English, but get an almost immediate response if you use Google Translate and write asking for the tour in French.

The displays are in both English and French, but are very old school. None of the interactive panels work and they haven't updated the exhibits for Arianne 5. The displays has no science just blah. Completely unchallenging for most adults and probably for most kids too. Even decent pictures would be better than these displays.

They say it takes a minimum of 45 minutes to go through the museum. We were in and out in 20 minutes.

Still, it's open until 6 PM if you are keen....

No cafeteria--just some chairs and vending machines with junk food (chips and candy bars) and juices and water. There is a gift shop selling decent postcard of Guyana but no stamps.

Service at the ticket office and she is very friendly. They will call you a taxi if need be.

Interesting But Needs to Be Updated

I think that this would appeal to people who are in the aerospace industry and those not at all familiar with rockets and satellites. It's a small museum that gives a good explanation of launching satellites and space exploration. One frustration is that ESA has done a lot of fascinating work landing on a comet and landing on Titan. This isn't covered, at least not in English. The vast majority of the displays are in both English and French.

Great museum with permanent exhibits , photo, documentation, spaceships, satellites and lots interactive educational activities. It is also possible to have an excellent guided tour by bus around the Space Center grounds , the computer control rooms and the various launching sites. Well- worth a visit to both.

Fascinating visit

Very well run attraction and an interesting insight into the European Space programme. The staff explained everything in simple non-scientific language and the tour of the site is well worth taking.

Not worth the effort
Oct 2015 • Family
We were unable to tour the main site as we were told it was closed for clean up after the previous weeks launch but on arrival to the museum a tour for several other British visitors was just about to leave so having made the long trip we were more than a little annoyed. The museum is small and has few exhibits and the information provided could easily be found online. Not worth the effort!
