A must for fans of space travel and exploration. A good history of the European Space Centre and the Ariane rocket programme. Also a selection of scientific experiments to try out.

Very interesting if you are into rockets. Not as impressive as the equivalent Nasa facility in Florida, but the nature around it, while having some impact on the conditions of the facilities, adds an interesting atmosphere to the site. Try to be in the area...More

Cool place to visit. However, the tour is 100% in French and you are on a bus so you cannot set your pace. Our English speaking guide was with us but he could not translate because it would have disturbed the group. I get that....More

Firstly, while the tour is free, you need to book by e-mailing visites.csg@cnes.fr at least 48 hours in advance (not including weekends and public holidays). They need 48 hours to do security checks on you which is why they ask you to advise your nationality,...More

We were taken there as part of a bigger tour. It took over 3 hours in a bus with guides. Although the commentary was in French both the guides took us aside and gave us the story in English. We went to the launch pads...More

The first time we were in Kourou in December 2008, there was a rocket launch, so we missed the tour, but this time we made it just before the next Soyuz launch (which is why we could not see the Soyuz lauch pad). Lucie and...More

From outside the restricted zone you can see the rocket. If there is a launch there is NO guided tour. So you cannot get close.
