I had an out of the world experience at this sanctuary. Being a solo traveler for the first time and this being my first time in Fiji, I wasn't sure what to expect.

Natasha, her partner and the wider Gaiatree welcomed me very warmly and immediately made me feel part of the family. I was offered a shower in a fantastical dome with the most gorgeous views overlooking Taveuni to start with.

The day just kept on getting better as I got to see the beautiful, creative food the team was making, have an exciting tour of the farm and the appreciate the sheer variety of herbs, vegetables and fruits grown from all corner the world, from Acai to Fiji's own kava, and of course eating the gorgeous organic food with the best views and company imaginable.

This was such an awesome introduction to Fiji. The warm hospitality I received and the gorgeous surroundings I was amongst was a wonderful introduction to Fiji.

Gaiatree is a must do in Taveuni and is a right up there in terms of all the more famous things to do here.

Being picked up at the bottom of a rough dusty road, we weren't quite sure what to expect but from the moment we arrived we were in a little piece of heaven. Natasha, Matt and their wonderful team made us feel instantly at home and oh so relaxed. We were greeted with exotic herbal drinks and encouraged to explore the very clever dome shaped units that stood separately as the kitchen, guest room, dining room and bathroom. They took us on a tour of the edible garden that has obviously been cultivated with love and passion and served a delicious lunch and variety of snacks. We ended the day lying on the matting overlooking the ocean and being served desert. I think some of us even had a nap. The day was so relaxing, so enjoyable, and all those involved were very special. We highly recommend the day and will definitely return. I would recommend walking shoes for the tour of the farm and possibly a hat. Otherwise just make the time to slow down, relax, and enjoy. Thank you to Natasha and Matt for creating such a wonderful piece of heaven and for sharing it with such style and grace.

Bula everyone!

A group of 10 of us were on a mission trip to taveuni, and we were invited here to have lunch.

After a 15 minute drive up a windy road, we arrived at what I envision as the garden of Eden.

Complete silence, stunning views, and the most tranquil place to see the best views in taveuni island

They then gave us a walking tour of their garden and spice garden - and prepares the most amazing drinks for us

Next was a 3 course lunch with desert.

Beyond incredible. No other words to describe it.

This is a must see, do, and eat.

We will definitely be back, thank you so much!

The drive up Gila Road to Gaiatree Sanctuary is more than worth the spectacular
views. Natasha and Matthew have built an amazing eco-friendly place of ,respite,
enrichment and food that will have you craving more. The 8 acre parcel is full
of both native and imported species of food trees, bushes, plants, roots, and herbs
that will delight every palate. It is a definite YES stop for all who travel to Taveuni.

Vinaka Vakalevu Becky! Your kind review means the world to our whole team. Creating a safe organic haven for endangered native plants and traditional medicines has been a top priority for us from the beginning. Working with the local women to create recipes with the fresh local greens has been a delightful (and tasty) adventure that we love to share with visitors from around the world. The Gaiatree Sanctuary owned and run by Canadian couple Natasha and Matthew hosted our hungry 😋 appetites. The amazing Gaiatree Sanctuary team cook and produce fresh produce grown in their organic farm, the first part of the tour Matt and Natasha introduced everyone and welcomed all of us including the furry animals. We wandered around the property chilling out and soaking in the beautiful sights and breathing in the fresh air. The abundance of tropical fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants are phenomenal!! The garden is a true testimony of health and well-being live food that can be consumed in food, drinks and medicinal purposes.

Be prepared, take mosquito repellent, sun screen, sun hat, trainers, a shawl or sulu to cover your shoulders (women) there are many insects that are part of the eco system they buzz, fly and suck delectable sweet blood in the garden. Be prepared to walk the first part of the garden exploring and learning from Matthew the information on the plants and different species in the garden. The second part of the tour after lunch, we explored the lower garden which ends at the bottom of the property at a natural waterfall spring which is refreshing. This walk is very adventurous on the second part, be prepared and aware that the hike up hill can be challenging if your not inclined to fitness. My mum is 72 years old, she attempted the first half of the second part of the tour, decided to go back up hill to rest. Natasha and her team are at the top of the hill preparing refreshments to quench the thirst after the big hike up hill.

Our group was the last tour group for the year Dec 2017, we are so appreciative and inspired by their labour of love for planet earth 🌏, animals and plant life. Everything that is grown is grown with love, organic soul power food that is delectable vegetarian/vegan food, drinks from the beautiful garden of Gaiatree Sanctuary, Taveuni, Fiji Islands.

We are working at the Mission in Natuvu Creek on the neighboring island of Vanua Levu, but were doing some excursions over the weekend. We were told that this place was a "must see", so we booked it. We are actually a family with 2 college-aged kids who both enjoy natural beauty, and eating. This combines that and much, much more! Matthew and Natasha moved to the island almost ten years ago, bought 8 acres on a hill top with incredible views and a nice breeze. They have planted and harvested more than just a garden; they have created a sustainable food source that is both beautiful and functional. All of the food is organic and grown on their property. Natasha is a natural chef with a creative mind that turns fruits and vegetables into delicious works of art! We were greeted with the most delicious ginger ale we've ever tasted, followed by appetizers that were fresh and tasty. We went on a tour of the grounds and learned about more plants, vegetables and fruits than I could count. We returned to grind fresh sugar cane into a sweet juice that, combined with extracts made the best mojito (both with and without alcohol). The lunch was even more amazing, if that's possible! I won't go on about the food, but trust me that the eating experience alone is enough reason to visit. See my photos. Make this sanctuary a definite part of your trip to Taveuni or even if you're near the northern part of Vanua Levu as you can take the ferry from the dock at Natuvu Creek.

"As a world traveler I can confidently say that The GaiaTree
experience was for this visitor the exotic tropics as never deemed
possible. Something wonderful teased out of the lush landscape. Unique
not just to Fiji but for this green-blue orb, planet Earth. Gaia IS a
Sanctuary, a fruit and salad bowl that blends a vision of beauty with
taste ".

Consumate hosts Matt and Natasha have, on the extraordinary panoramic
heights above the SomoSomo straits, manifested a remarkable vision
fusing contemporary architecture, plantscaping with an edible
walkabout. Flavors are presented from the gardens and spendidly
recombined. Spending a portion of a day at GaiaTree for me was fun,
informative, exotically tasty and memorable. Stunning."

Vinaka Brooks! Such magical words for a magical day, thank you for sharing. Together I think we may have tasted and smelled over 30 different aromatic spice leaves on our walk through the gardens, reinventing the concept of "salad bars" around the world... and then lunch :) Looking forward to your return to Taveuni. Loloma from the whole Gaiatree Team!

Gaiatree is owned, built and ran by the most beautiful couple in Fiji! Not only did Matt and Natasha remember our names (out of a 14 member tour!) But they also remembered we're vegan and would appear from their gorgous smelling kitchen with vegan versions of the very few non vegan items! The tour is so incredibly unique and inspiring and Matt is funny and charming for the entirety! If you'd like to see some Fijian jungle farming at its best than this is the place for you! The domes are gorgous and so original, made by the couple themselves and the food was honestly other worldly! Such beautiful, fresh and organic ingredients. We left full, happy and ENVIGORATED! I'm so in love with Gaiatree and from one young, vegan traveller to the hundreds of others, get your butt here.
