My daughter and I visited Egypt for the first time and we were so grateful for our tour guide Mr Ahmad Kamouna. He was so knowledgeable about the history of ancient Egypt and he told the history in such an interesting way, not boring at all. We actually learned so much about the ancient Egypt in 3 days. He was very punctual and had very good and pleasing personality. I will recommend him to my friends and family, as a tour guide, who wants to visit Egypt in the future.

We had an interesting experience with Get your Guide from the outset. Firstly on day 2 of our stay in Sharm our Submarine Tour ($300 US) never showed and we are yet to recieve a refund on that. This has been met with silence emails much to our disgust. Secondly, our Cairo trip booked with Get your Guide in Partnership with Agypten Ausfluge were the most expensive tour and caused us many grey hairs. We chose them as we figured being the most expensive they would be easy to deal with. Firstly, they never showed to collect us at the designated time of 5:30am from our hotel. This was followed up with a frantic email from us at 6am ($1000AUD was spent on this trip alone) and some ten minutes later a reply to come back down they were coming. 20 minutes later (6:30am) they arrived. We were so relieved and excited only to have to pay for a 'sticker' visa ($50US) at the door of the airport as Mohammed said we coudln't travel without it, we both had e visas and were clearly stamped in our passports. To no end we raced through the queue got the visas. Then were frantically put through several security lines ahead of others by the airline staff to hurry us only to be questioned why did we have 2 visas (sticker and E visa). Naturally we were frustrated as that was what we were told to 'get in' to the airport alone. We ran onto the plane to much relief and excited to see the Pyramids. We arrived and again no travel guide, no sign as outlined by get your guide. We looked everywhere eventually asking another travel company after sitting on steps outside of the airport sad and wondering if we would ever make it. Another guide called our guide and our guide had almost made it out the gate. I recognised him, but he had no sign at the gate when we arrived originally. We finally made the bus. We were so relieved. Our tour guide was very charismatic, very funny and easily understood. He knew his history and we really liked him. Ali was great. We would go on to visit the Museum (Not air conditioned FYI and they take your water on the airport so we were dying!), Papyrus Factory, Lunch at Hotel near pyramids ($200Egyptian Pounds extra each), Pyramids/Sphinx ($$ extra negotiable re: camel ride), Perfume Factory, Mosque, Dinner on the run from traditional street side vendor (amazing)(he paid), dropped at airport 2 hours before flight. I didn't like the extras that we weren't aware of : Lunch and Camel Ride. The camels are not well looked after and one of the guys on our tour was covered in ticks. most of us recieved bites of some kind and we were not taken all the way to the top of the hill to see 'all 9 pyramids' and get "that" photo. Yes we got 6 in pics and we saw them all but on that ride for the money we paid, the swindling it felt like they did, we were not impressed. The lunch being $200 was also unexpected and SHOULD be included in the details. The flight booked at 9:15 left at 9:30pm and we arrived back at our hotel around 11pm. It was smooth sailing from the airport transfer back to our hotel. We were just disappointed at the communication. We had a great day, Ali our guide was great, we just had a few too many hurdles to get there and the extras really were not detailed out on our day plan (it's also expected/a given that you'll do the camel ride). My advice, do not do the camel ride, maybe do the horse and carriage and negotiate before you ride. Be smart. Be clear in what you want. Do not get fooled. Otherwise walk to the hill. We went in the middle of summer, August, so take water and lots of it if you plan to do so. Its only a short walk and easily walked. The lunch, well you have no choice. My advise is Get your Guide get their act together and write those things down to let travellers know thats expected and there is no real alternative. the food was great yes, but we had money to buy perfumes and stuff, not extra for food. Be aware, egyptian time is a real thing. Be prepared to wait.

This company is the most expensive for these trips but I had no choice. Flying is a must. We added a half hour Nile boat trip and the 5 of us paid an xtra LE1000 for this. We were zipped through the museum to Tutenkarmen and then left for a Papyrus factory, average quick lunch then off to the highlight the Pyramids and 5 minutes at the Sphynx. The guide gave us good warning not to have any dealings with the locals. We then went to a perfume factory (really!!) and left out the Bazaar being dropped at the airport 2.5 hours early for our domestic flight back to Sharm. The friendly guide seemed more interested in the commission he could make at the papyrus and perfume factory. Of course it was great seeing the Pyramids etc but the trip did not relate to the advertised program at all. For the top dollar price very disappointing. Advice is to avoid the Get your Guide and Agypten Ausfluge. Unprofessional. We also had to keep waiting for our guide who would leave us at the various sights. The cherry on top was having to wait over half an hour at Sharm airport after a very long day.

Definitely do the flight to Cairo it's a lot quicker. The tour guide we had was amazing, really knowledgeable and wanting to share his knowledge. It's a great tour for the money, entrance into museum, the pyramids, a perfume shop, papyrus factory and a cruise down the Nile. It was by far the best day on our whole holiday.
