Old Town of Hurghada called Eldahhar, mostly now occupied by local residents, on first line has some good hotels such as Hilton Plaza, also if you like buying fresh fruits yourself you can do it at (Elsouq) which means market it is easy to reach on local transport. also you may have a great chance to make a tour on... If your after culture and the Egyptian life.. 5 star is your rating. If your looking for a relaxing and beautiful holiday, I wouldn't recommend a visit. You have plenty of fruit markets, hanging meat in the streets, gentleman cafes. The majority of the people you'll see are men and children. The building look like slums in some parts, with... More

Don't know what people are saying about Dahar not being safe, I go in nearly every other day. The shop keepers aren't pushy, get a life or you haven't been to many places. Yes it is not the cleanest of places, stay in England the where it's really clean, joke. This is Egypt not the Channel Islands, this is real... More

This is where to go to meet the locals. A beer at the marina will cost you £8, here it is £1.50 and you can watch the world go by

The place to go, to get away from the usual hassle of the tourist bazaars and experience real Egyptian life. Lots of shops and eating places. Something to do on a cooler day! Obviously take care when crossing the roads, as the traffic comes from any direction!

I love the real feel of Egypt in this area of Dahar. Small tourist shops selling their wares and all the lovely food being cooked everywhere you went. There is a fabulous bakery there and I can thoroughly recommend it. There are some nice hotels in the area and I have friends that live in this area too. Three Corners... More

Fortunate to be taken on private tour by friend who works over here so knew the places to go, not just the Souk. The vast amount of fruit and veg is awesome. The live animal section, A little disconcerting - and smelly!
