Be prepared to get up early! We were picked up at 4 a.m from our Hurghada resort. Plane leaves at around 6:45. It was a propeller plane but it was an excellent flight experience. The staff on board was exceptionally friendly and the pilot was a very good one, both landings went very smooth. The experience at the airport in the morning was a bit unpleasant though. The security was sharper than on any U.S. airport!! In Cairo we were greeted at the airport by our guide, Will. We were a group of only 4 so we had a very personal experience. He gave us so much insight on living in Cairo and on modern Egyptian history already when we drove from the airport to the Egyptian Museum. We loved how he answered all our questions, and he was an easy-going guy with a great sense of humour, but most of all his great knowledge of history and culture and also the love for his country and its heritage was what made him the perfect guide. We arrived at the Museum at around 8:15. It opens at 9, so Will gave us some free time to explore the garden (skulptures/statues) and use the toilets. We were the first ones at the gate and the first group inside the museum! Will walked us around and showed us the most important pieces related to the Pharaohs who built the Pyramids but also such important rulers as Hatchepsut or Echnaton. Of course we visited the great "King Tut". ;-) We then had an hour of free time to explore. I wish it was a bit longer because we really had to hurry to get to the pieces we had decided we wanted to see. After the Museum we went to see the Pyramids. Don't think that they are in the middle of the Desert though. Oh no! Right besides the Pyramids is the city, and it is not a rich part of the city but a rather worn one. This alone was a real eye-opener for me. Before we got to the Pyramids we stopped at a Papyrus store where they showed us how papyri are made and we were offered to buy from their exhibition. It was all a bit pricey for me but then Ali the owner brought out an offer for me that I couldnt refuse so I bought three little painted papyrus for each one of my kids with their names written in hieroglyphics all for the price of £20. The Pyramids. Oh what a wonderful experience. All my life I had dreamt to see them and I was not disappointed. It was not as crowded as I had feared but I cannot imagine it in high season! And the sun! I was so happy I brought my hat. My friend and I took a ride in a horse carriage to go around the Pyramids to the other side to get these awesome pictures that you always see in travel ads. The carriage driver was a very funny guy with only a handful of teeth left in his mouth but he took awesome pictures of us. The carriage ride was something though! I am a little of a worry-wart so I thought my last day had come! Really, the ride went over big and small stones and it is all in the sand, mind You! I held on to the rail so tight that I had a muscle ache for a week! ;-) I wouldn't want to have missed the experience though. Afterwards we had the chance to go inside the 2nd largest pyramid to see the tomb chamber. This is only suitable for healthy people though and it is a bit dangerous apart from being dark and hard to breathe. There are no steps or ladders, it is just steep wooden ramps with wooden steps nailed on them to kind of walk on them in a bent-down position because the height is only about 1,45m. We then went inside the Temple of the Valley where the body of Pharaoh Khufu (?) was embalmed, and then we went around to see the Sphinx. We took some nice pictures there. We stayed on the plateau around the Pyramids until sunset which was awesome because it gave us great views. We basically went back with all the vendors, horse carriages and camel riders. On our way back to the airport we stopped at a perfume manufacturer where we had to listen to a sales representative and were basically expected to buy something. This was the only downright of the day and I took one star off the rating for this because we weren't told in advance that we would go there and we didnt have a choice. For me, the experience was extra unpleasant because I get a headache from heavy smells. I cannot say that the sales lady was unfriendly in any way though even after we said that none of us would buy anything. All in all, the day was awesome and I would recommend it to everyone. Especially the friendly conversation per Whatsapp beforehand between Mohammed and myself was very helpful. Oh yes and I forgot the lunch experience!! We went on a Nile boat for a cruise over to our restaurant (a boat on the Nile!). I really enjoyed Cairo from the Nile as you see the city skyline, the traffic on the bridges, and you see both sides of Cairo, the pricey apartment buildings as well as the boat slums alongside the river. The boat ride is not included in the price of the trio but I liked it very much and for €12 it was okay. Thank you to Your Guide Tours for a wonderful and unforgettable day.

Reccomend this trip especially if your time in egypt is short. 1. Visited the Museum of egyptian antiquities. Really wish we had more time here. Guide took us around to about 10 of the many many things to see and then left us alone for about 40 minutes of free time. This museum is best seen with a guide as there are a lot of things to be seen and not so much explanation by the exhibits 2. We took a trip around the Nile. Not much to see from the water except for all the expensive tourist hotels. In my opinion it could have been skipped. But if it is your only chance to be on the Nile in Egypt then it would be worth it just for the experience of being on the Nile. 3. Lunch in a Egyptian restaurant was buffet style and okay. 4. We saw the pyramids of Giza definitely was the highlight of the tour would have loved a little extra time here to do both a camel ride and go into the pyramids. The camel ride was pretty great though 5. We saw the Sphinx it was awe inspiring to see the sphinx lined up with the pyramids. 6. We visited a Bedouin house where we were offered tea and coffee while we learned about some of the oils and perfumes and their uses. 7. Bus ride back to the hotel Over all it was a great trip saw the highlights of Egypt all in a day. If you take this trip be sure to fill up at lunch as you will definitely miss dinner at your hotel.
