It was a great day out. Long drive, but well worth it. Just to have walked on Mount Sinai was a thrill in itself when considering the historical aspect

Before you go off booking tour and safaris here and there please get quotes from a few places - don't leave out King Safari. They are present all over the place and have some great deals. Many people will try and get you to use them but please compare prices - you will be shocked.
We found King to be affordable, organised and professional. Plus no hassle (which is a great plus in Egypt)

The trip itself is very difficult: you walk a long distance at night, not sleeping a minute, and it's very cold, and crowded (taking pictures-wise), at the top. And yet it's a worthwhile experience and you get some great views and challenge yourself. In the end you get a short visit to St Catherine Monastery (not much to see there).

The company itself in Dahab doesn't do much - it takes you to the St Catherine Protectorate by a small minibus and brings you back in the morning. Any food, drinks along the way is at your expense. The guide is a local bedouine guide in any case. But they can hook you up with other travelers, and not too much of them, so it's good.

There are many other travel agencies in Dahab but I cannot vouch for them.

The actual walk up mount Sinai was amazing, however getting there and back was not. Considering this was the only part of the trip organised by the company it was not great. The company put preference to egyptian visitors over the English, the bus was tiny and cramped and we set off late. On the way there we had several stops to get fuel which could have been organised before and a stop to swap drivers. The trip was over night so we had hoped to sleep on the way there and back but the cramped conditions, lack of air con and typically egyptian driving stopped this. I do not recommend this company.

What a disaster! Don't waste time booking through King Safari or Bright Stars or whatever they will call themselves next week. It was a shambles.

We were an hour late being picked up then overcharged when paying by card so had to get a cash refund.

The Bedouin dinner itself was poor. We waited over an hour & a half for them to get the barbecue going because they managed to get the coals wet & then when the food arrived, it was a piece of rubber chicken, a burnt lamb kofta, rice, some mushy vegetables & a hard pitta bread. So not worth the money.

The seating area was enclosed so you couldn't see the stars & they didn't light the fire so we all sat freezing.

On the way back, the driver was an idiot & drove stupidly down a sandy mountain ending up crashing into some rocks.

I am registered disabled & really hurt my back & legs whilst my partner spent the whole night until 6am the next morning being sick.

Most hotels offer this trip themselves so book through them. We were given half our money back but for the suffering caused to us & the money lost from having to cancel a diving trip the next day, this wasn't enough.

My advice is to steer clear of King Safari as they ruined 2 trips for us. The other being Jerusalem which we were really looking forward to.

The guide and driver were awesome and made me feel safe the whole trip. The Bedouin guide up the mountain was absolutely charming and so supportive - it is not the easiest of climbs but so worth it!
Make no mistake, this is a physically demanding climb, but it is doable for reasonably active people. If you are quite sedentary, or overweight, hire a camel. However, keep in mind that the camel will only take you to the steps at the top of the mountain. These you will have to climb, and they are rustic and challenging, meaning they are not so much "steps" as strategically placed rocks.
The sunrise at the top was beautiful and well worth the journey. The view was inspiring. I could have done without the "pilgrims" who kept walking around to different spots on the summit, singing (badly) hymns at the top of their lungs. But, there isn't much to be done about that.
All in all, the tour was wonderful, King safari provided a fantastic service and I'm glad to have done it... But, it's one of those tours I will only do once!

This was an amazing trip with amazing views and I fully recommend it to people who enjoy hiking. We were picked up from our hotel in Dahab, at about 10pm and it took about 2 hours to get to the base of the mountain. We started hiking at about 1am, got to the top at 4am and the sun came up at about 5:45am. The night I went happened to be a full moon, but otherwise I would have needed a flashlight for sure. Also, dress warmly! I wish I had worn warmer pants, gloves, and a hat. Luckily, there were some people who rented blankets at the top, otherwise I would have frozen! Again, highly recommended for people who enjoy hiking. It was fun to hike at night and the views are amazing during your hike down when you can see everything.

Our guide, Ammar, was very helpful and friendly on our trip to the White Canyon. The whole adventure was a lot of fun, even for people like me who are a bit scared of heights - Ammar was great at keeping me calm and moving. Lunch at the bedouin camp was delicious to

dress warm for the top. Gloves are key. There are cafes along the way up the mountain so you can stop and get a coffee. Bring small bills.
