Not my scene
Jun 2019
A popular beach-- just not my scene. Lots of hotels and restaurants along the beach. Typical beach activities--rides, tents for rent, etc. Locals approached us every two minutes trying to sell us trinkets, sunglasses, coconut water, etc. I preferred La Loberia on the other side of the peninsula.

Beautiful Peaceful Beach
May 2019 • Couples
We spent 2 days enjoying Chipipe Beach. We fortunately missed the school holiday rush, and were able to have a empty, quiet beach to ourselves.

Aside from the locals selling food and crafts on the beach. We were not overly bothered or annoyed.

The water is clean, not clear enough to see your feet, but clear enough to see schools of small fish. It’s a lovely soft sand that allows you to gradually walk into the water.

The sand for the most part was clean, but absolutely littered with garbage closer to the street. Every time I walked back to my chair from a swim I was able to pick up at least 5 pieces of garbage and plastic.

People please pick up after yourself!! We only have one planet!

Clean, Wide, Safe Beach
Mar 2019 • Family
The other reviewers are right on! Wide beach, $5 for cabana with chairs, clean beach and ocean, very calm waves, etc. Vendors by the hundreds but a simple no works, but you can get cold soda, beer, street food, Restaurant food, etc. served to you by the vendors. Banana boat, jet ski rides from the beach BUT beware of the Banana Boats if you are not a good swimmer. Watched them dump their riders off at the end of the ride and they had to swim in with their life jackets about 50 yards. Some got in trouble and had to be picked up as the breeze from the shore was strong. Much less crowded than Salinas and parking can usually be found. Not much for local shops but can buy tshirts from the beach vendors.

Wide beach with less commercial activity than Salinas Beach
Feb 2019
Though a longer walk from where we are staying, we preferred Chipepe. It felt calmer than the main beach. There are still many vendors though and they take the best beach spots during high season.

Beautiful white sandy beach
Jan 2019 • Friends
We spent an afternoon on this beautiful beach. For just $5.00 we rented a huge shade canopy and 3 chairs. Vendors come by frequently with cold beer and other beverages. The water is warm and waves are huge on one end, and more gentle further down.

..a little piece of heaven
May 2018 • Family
Salinas, Ecuador is a beautiful city on the Pacific coast.

The beach is divided in two sections; as we arrived the first part of the drive on a street named "Malecon" is very commercial, upbeat, with hotels, restaurants, and stores. In between our drive it was a private club that divided the two beaches, The Yacht Club.

The second section is more like a suburb, with beautiful houses, and a large quiet beach, this area is "Chipipe". It is on the north part of the peninsula, with amazing views, and high rise apartment buildings; in which you can enjoy the customs and traditions of the people that live there, or the ones that have apartments and visit.

The beach at the end has a hill, and on the skirts is their Naval Base. It is a perfect place to set an umbrella, relax on a chair and experience vendors, ocean waves, breeze and a perfect sunset.

*The summer time in Ecuador is from January to May, schools are out and this area can be overwhelmed with buses and people; I recommend to visit after the kids are back to school. By July their winter starts and the ocean is a bit cold for my taste, but sometime in the middle of November el niño kicks in and the waters are just perfect.

Quieter beach

A beautiful beach with fewer vendors breathing down your neck. Water is wonderful- I recommend going more south toward chocolateria for more privacy

Nice beach

Nice beach, I missed the trashbins. Some trash on the beach. Less busy than Playa san Lorenzo. Less salespeople, but the ones who are there are friendly and when you say 'no' they move on.

Fabulous beach
Feb 2018 • Couples
Very busy during Carnival and most days of the week but a beautiful beach. Plenty of tents and chairs to rent, vendors to supply you with food and drink.

Great beach!
Feb 2018 • Friends
Our group visited mid-week. Beach was not too crowded. The sand was soft. The water was clear and calm. Very little litter. We rented a beach tent and 4 chairs for $10 for the day. The only downside is all of the vendors that ask constantly whether you want to buy various items. It was annoying. Although, it was much less than on Playa de Salinas.
