Beautiful natural coastline
Jun 2019
The views here were amazing. From the observation pier, you can see sea lions lying on a rock not far from shore. The rocks and surf are stunning. Few to no swimmers. Very natural and unspoiled.

So Excellent!!!
Apr 2019 • Couples
We walked from La Chocolatera along the path (great path) which took about 40 minutes. On the way Vern got a video of a Crested Caracara (raptor) which was awesome! When we arrived at the point there was a bunch of sea lions basking on a rock in easy view, but I spotted a huge male putzing around in the water. I kept my eye and camera on him and he used the incoming tide to access a rock close to a huge rock. I got a terrific video of him hauling himself out onto the rock to bask, alone. Wow! What a treat. The views from this end of the bay were stunning with the waves crashing in the surging tide. I suggest checking for a high tide for viewing. There were some surfers out also so that was fun watching also. We called a txi to pick us up and it's about $5 for the trip back to the main Malecon area.

Seals and Surfers
Feb 2019
We walked from La Chocolatera down the beach to La Loberia. It is good walking on hard sand. We saw many crabs and a few birds and very few people. At La Loberia there is a road and parking lot so there are more people. The rocky outcropping overlooks a surf break with numerous surfers. A small rocky hill/islet in front had perhaps 20 seals. There was a roof for shade. There were a few benches without shade. Loved the place.

Sea lions home all year
Sep 2018 • Family
Easy walk or taxi ride.. Walk through the Air Force base and see museum display of planes on display. At La Loberia several sea lions relax on the rocks or swim. Waves are impressive too. On some days you can watch like cal surfers too.
You can also take the tour bus or « train » from Salinas

Great visit
Mar 2018 • Couples
Good place to view crashing waves, surfers and sea lions. Many large sea lions playing on the rocks the afternoon we were there. Located on the military base, a very short taxi ride from the Salinas malacon. Worth the visit for its natural beauty. A short walk from the parking lot to the look out point. Wheel chair access.

Spectacular Coast Line

Well worth the trip up the hill for the views. Wave crashing on rocks and in season easy to spot whales breaching.

Sealions hanging out here
Oct 2017 • Couples
As the title says you can see the sea lions on a little rocky island close to the look out on the cliff. You can walk or bike there from La Chocolatera by the trail. There is also a viewpoint you can go to in this area. This area is also a military base so you cant go to some roads here, like the one around the hill. I went there anyway, but just heads up.

Gorgeous beach with sea lions and surf
May 2017 • Friends
We visited this beach with our friend that lives in San Cristobal. Never in my life have I been more amazed with a beach and we have been to countless. The sand was an amazing mixture of shells and reef and not the kind that is painful to walk on. The sea lions were everywhere, the surf was big, and the sunset was breathtaking. Most definitely my favorite beach in the world!
