The view from the beach is magnificent. The lagoon on the side is great for quiet swimming and snorkeling. The sand is extra fine. We saw at least 50 marine iguanas, lots of pelicans and other sea birds. Some fish in the lagoon. Tips: It is a good one hour walk from town up to the beach on a paved... More

We took a boat to Tortuga Bay. This involved taking a very short water taxi ride to a larger boat (old, rickety but captain seemed to know what he was doing) anchored out in the ocean. After the boat transfer it was about an hour long boat ride to the sheltered cove of Tortuga Bay. The captain skillfully manuvered the... More

Tortuga Bay is a beautiful beach if you do not mind calm waters. There are no waves at the swimming side of the beach (Playa Manso). It is however a long walk from the park entrance, especially on a hot day and with small children. It's about an hour walk to the beach and of course another hour walk back.... More

Such a beautiful beach! The cove side is very relaxing and you can kayak- the ocean side has gorgeous views- i dipped my feet in and looked down to see black tip sharks darting around me- such a magical time!

This is a very beautiful beach a short walk from Puerta Ayora. If you have time head out here. The marine iguanas walking up and down the beach are very unique. Careful swimming, there is heavy surf and currents there.

SUMMARY: As with other attractions that you can largely experience on your own in Galapagos, the two beaches at Tortuga Bay (Playa Galapagos /Playa Brava and Playa Mansa) can make for a nice half-day or full day at the beach, where you may see a bit of the wildlife that Galapagos is famous for, like blue-footed boobies and marine iguanas,... This makes for a nice day for the family and it is free. The walk is long and can be tiring for younger children. However, the path is easy, with the most severe elevation gain right as you are entering the park and then it levels out . There is a place you should check in, though it seemed optional... More

the experience of going to the pristine, solitary beach is unique...not everytime you find a whole beach abandoned to yourself and we enjoyed this.

Well worth long walk in equatorial heat. Cactus forest is uterley unique. Pristine beach but too rough to swim. All kinds of Sea Iquanas pose for your pictures! Second beach is calm and good for swimmi ng but water is murky and a waste of effort trying to snorkle there. There may be a snorkling area at far end of... More
