Beginning with my very first inquiry with Galapagos a la Carte to my last instant message letting them know we returned home safely, Byron has been so extremely helpful to us in planning and ensuring this very special trip went perfectly!

In the initial stages of planning, all my emails were answered ridiculously fast and very professionally. In all, Galapagos a la Carte helped us to book North Seymour and South Plaza day trips from Santa Cruz, a ferry ride to Isabella, an air taxi flight to San Cristobal, and a Kicker Rock Snorkel tour in San Cristobal during our 12-day Galapagos vacation.

Upon booking, I was sent a very organized itinerary of our plans. In addition, Byron also requested to meet and welcome us at our hotel the evening of our arrival to the islands to go over the itinerary and answer any questions. Byron was even more fantastic in person! He went above and beyond my expectations during our entire trip by checking in with us regularly and making himself available for any questions we had. He ensured the tours we booked with him had turned out well and also gave us his personal suggestions for activities on our "free" days. He even picked us up from our hotel in Santa Cruz and took us to the ferry dock and waited with us until it was time to board.

I didn't know when booking with Galapagos a la Carte that we would get so much more than just confirmed tickets.. the comfort in having someone check in with us and ensure things were going smoothly was invaluable to us. I would 100% recommend anyone who is looking into planning their own vacation in the Galapagos to inquire with this company. They are so worth it.

Thank you Byron and Galapagos a la Carte for helping us make our trip a success!

(this review is focused on the service provided by Galapagos a la Carte, but want to mention that all the individual tours we did book through them were wonderful and met every expectation we had and made our time in the Galapagos very special)

We booked with Galapagos a la Carte for the tour to North Seymour Island. We didn't plan on booking a tour to go to an uninhabited island originally, but needed to get a safe passage travel document at the time. The North Seymour Island tour stood out to us because of Las Barchas Beach, which is where WWII barges were abandoned. Now the only thing left behind is jagged metal sticking out of the beach (wear shoes!).

We booked with Byron because of the reviews we saw. His English is excellent, and we were able to communicate well over email, and then on Whatsapp once we were in the Galapagos.

Like another reviewer, I had issues with a tour company on Isla Isabela who was completely unresponsive. Byron told me to keep contacting that company and was helpful in letting me know that he dealt with similar issues with that same company for another client of his.

Galapagos a la Carte works as a "fixer"; Byron does not run the tours, but arranges them with people who actually operate the tour. Our tour guide was ok - his English was not the best, and luckily I spoke some Spanish so I was able to communicate better with him in Spanish. The way he gave us information was very perfunctory, like he had memorized information he learned in order to be a tour guide in the Galapagos, but didn't have his heart in it. Being a tour guide in the Galapagos pays very well compared to the other jobs you can do in Ecuador in general, so I completely understand why people who don't "understand nature" (verbatim what our guide said) would do that job.

The boat ride itself was gentle and smooth, we rode in a very large boat (50 feet long? It was huge) that felt luxurious. Our dinner was prepared on the boat by the crew, which was tuna with rice and veggies. We got a flan for dessert.

The tour was most of the day. We got back around 3 or 4pm.

I highly recommend using Byron for his services. He was extremely helpful, and I would use him again to go on an uninhabited island tour.

I recommend Galapagos a la Carte enthusiastically! I say this not because I took any of their day tours, but because they went over and beyond the call of duty in the face of the covid-19 pandemic. I had booked three day tours in January 2020 for August 2020, a process which went very smoothly. Byron Rueda responded to all my questions and requests thoroughly and promptly. When the pandemic hit Ecuador, and all tours had to be canceled. He sent a full refund to me promptly.
This was in contrast to another tour company that I had booked with, Rosedelco. From April and onwards, I attempted to contact Rosedelco by email and through their website repeatedly to ask for a refund, but did not receive a response. Thinking that they might respond to a local call, I appealed to Byron Rueda at Galapagos a la Carte to contact them on my behalf. His repeated attempts failed as well until finally in July, he spoke to them by phone. They promised to contact me soon, but I received nothing from them for weeks. Bryon Rueda then suggested that I contact the Ministry of Tourism in Ecuador, and offered to translate my letter into Spanish. After the letter was sent by email with documentation of my bookings with Rosedelco, he followed up twice with the Ministry. Finally, in August, I received a refund from Rosedelco. I am confident that this would not have happened without Byron’s help. He had no obligation to help me, but he seemed determined to do what he could. When it is possible again to travel to the Galapagos again, I will definitely go with this company!

I did the virtual Fisherman tour, watching from my home in the UK and it was absolutely fantastic. I recommend anyone who wants to get an insight into the amazing Galapagos to do this tour.

The guide was very passionate and clearly very knowledgeable about the subject- I learned a lot about the local wildlife and culture, despite the tour being just 45 minutes. You really get a feel for the island and what it is like to live there. Also- there is PLENTY of wildlife spotting! We saw sea lions, marine iguanas (including babies!) , pelicans and other species of birds, it was amazing.

My nephew is very interested in animals and wildlife, and the guide gave numerous opportunities to ask questions. When he asked questions (some very specific!) she gave incredibly detailed answers and clearly knew what she was talking about, which was very engaging for him. It really did feel like we were there in Galapagos, I was sad when it came to an end!

Thanks again to Byron for arranging it and to the team for allowing us to virtually experience your amazing islands. It all ran very smoothly despite the obvious challenges of a zoom tour- very well organised.

To begin, I am not someone who writes reviews often, if ever. However, when someone goes above and beyond expectations in every way imaginable, it would feel unjust not to let others know of our experience. My family of 6 just returned from our 9 day land based adventure in the Galápagos Islands and we are completely blown away by the unmatched services of Byron Rueda at Galapagos a la Carte. From the moment we arrived to the moment we were personally delivered to the airport, every single detail was planned for and taken care of. From my initial conversation with Byron, and his attention to detail about the interests of our family, he curated a vacation package that catered to the unique wants and needs of our group- down to lunch options for two members of our party with food allergies. I am someone who always does an immense amount of research for family trips and am comfortable booking hotels/tours/excursions /etc. on my own. While my planning and preparation for this trip was no different than any other, I did not realize how beneficial it would be to have someone who truly knows the ins and outs of the Galapagos islands. From the best day tours, captains, ferries and experiences, Byron walked me through the whole itinerary, always explaining important information and tips that only a local with experience would be aware of. There were several times on our trip where locals and others would comment and compliment specific aspects of our itinerary. For example, after arriving on Isabela via a ferry ride, a local resident commented that although the ride was bumpy, we were on one of the best ferries that drove that route. We heard many comments similar to this throughout the trip, which only reinforced the notion that I could not have booked all of these experiences on my own.

When you book with Galapagos a la Carte you are buying peace of mind. You are also ensuring that your experience will be unforgettable due to the knowledge and expertise this company brings to the table. This was truly the trip of a lifetime and we cannot thank Byron and Galapagos a la Carte enough, for not only making this possible, but also making the entire process (both planning and while on the trip) completely seamless.

Byron was so helpful and went way above and beyond to help my family with an unforgettable vacation to an amazing place. He has been very responsive throughout the entire journey of planning our trip and then throughout the trip. We had a plane majorly delayed and had a chain reaction in USA that almost caused us to cancel our entire trip but Byron helped us very late at night to communicate with the last leg (airline) since we don’t speak Spanish. We ended up arriving to Galápagos -Santa Cruz 2 days later than originally planned. Without his help, at that time I doubt we could of gotten things rescheduled. He also assisted with rearranging tours since we had to arrive later than planned. All the tours were great. The guides and crews all professionals. I’ll submit some write ups on them separately. They even assisted with ferry transfers and rides. I highly recommend using this agency for a single point to plan your trip and itinerary. Throughout the trip they will answer questions through WhatsApp and make recommendations etc. Thank you for an unforgettable trip; We will be back.

I did the virtual Academy Bay zoom tour that they offered, watching from my home in New York. Overall it was fantastic! A lot of fun and it brought me right back to the Galapagos (where I’ve spent a lot of time). The naturalist guide was very informative and passionate about the subject and we were able to see and experience quite a bit of the local wild life and culture in only 45 minutes. Considering how difficult it would be to convey this type of tour across zoom, I think they did very well. One suggestion would be to use the camera zoom more frequently. Because of the lower than perfect resolution, it was really nice when we could see the wildlife up close when the camera was zoomed in. Do that more often if you can 😊, those were some good shots.

I highly recommend this to anyone that wants a glimpse into what human life and wildlife is like in the Galápagos Islands.

With the help of Galapagos a la Carte, we built a tailor made 13-day Galapagos Islands package. From the first email, 10 months before our eventual departure, Byron was extremely helpful, prompt to reply, and always patient in our many email and WhatsApp conversations. He arranged our hotels, 6 tours, flights from (and to) the mainland and between the islands, as well as our transfers and more. Once our vacation began, he was always available to offer advice, answer questions and genuinely interested in how we were enjoying our time in Galapagos. He went out of his way to help us feel comforable in an unfamiliar place and truly helped make our adventure more enjoyable. He even rode in the taxi with us to the airport on our last day to hear about the trip and get our feedback in person.
I will post reviews on the individual day tours separately.
Galapagos a la Carte helped us create the trip of our dreams and we will never forget them and experiences we had.

We have booked through Galapagos a la Carte 2 times and they never disappoint! When we landed on the islands someone was there to pick us up and help us get to our hotel, and when we switched islands they coordinated the transfer and made sure everything went smooth.
The tours we booked with them were unforgettable. We highly recommend booking through this company before you go on your trip to have it be stress free.
Thanks for everything!

Nothing short of fantastic services! We booked multiple excursions and transfers between islands and they dealt with everything, brought us to the right places (ferry) and ensured everything was smooth. Constantly available on WhatsApp and went way beyond the line of duty by providing local advice while we were there and assisting with reservations... Would highly recommend.
