Beautiful and unusual walk to beach -- keep going to visit the lagoon at Playa Mansas too

First "beach excursion" -- we walked from Puerto Ayora town to the kiosk at the beach walk entrance and then to the beach through a beautiful cactus forest... many birds and lizards on the way. The beach itself was gorgeous -- with soft white sand, though dangerous currents for swimming. Walked to the end of this beach through a slew... More

Long, beautiful, pristine, uncrowded beach within walking distance from downtown Puerto Ayora. No facilities (= no bathrooms/snack bar) at the beach. It's just you, the sand, the ocean, the sun and the local animals. Just beautiful. The beach can be accessed by boat from the docks or by trail (1.5 miles from the entrance gate where you have to sign... More

A bit of a hike for the kids on a hot day, but was worth getting to the end to swim and see our first blue-footed booby. Nice place to swim and hike with a lot of locals who swim here as well.

Put on your walking shoes to visit Tortuga Bay. From registration to the beach is approximately 4.5k. Once there, you will see beautiful white sand beaches, blue water, all kinds of critters and amazing snorkeling, canoeing and swimming. Make sure you take plenty of water with you for the hike. You won't regret the walk.

this beach is amazing and worth the walk, the sand could not be whiter and the water could not be more clear.

well worth the long walk to get there. Takes at least 45 minutes to walk down the cobble path. Nice swimming in the cove, calm water, white sand, iguanas everywhere.

Nice and peaceful beach, there's a side beach next to the main one, which you can do snorkeling and i happen to see stingray there. Plan 3 hour there since there's a 30 min walk back and forth from the gate to the beach. The gate hours is 8-5 if i remember correctly.

Tip is to save energy, take a boat to the beach - it lands at the second, smaller beach in the lagoon where you can swim. Before stepping on the main pier in Puerto Ayora, look about 100 meters to the right and you will see a blue tent offering boat rides to Tortuga Bay. Cost is $10 per person... More

We spent a relaxed New Years day at this beach. It was about a 35 min walk from town, and you can buy ice cream and water at the registry hut on the way. The walk is along a paved path with cacti on either side, and is a nice stroll. The beach has beautiful soft white sand and the... More

Tortuga Bay is a magnificent white sand beach loaded with birds and marine iguana. If you walk all the way down the beach, you will come to a very quiet cove with kayaks for rent ($10 person). The only thing to keep in mind is that the walk on the path to get to the beach is 2 1/2 miles.... More
