A nice hike that's easily accessible from town. We only had one full day on San Cristobal to explore (wish we had more, there's plenty to do here!) and spent part of the afternoon walking up to Cerro Tijeretas. There's a path that connects this to the interpretation center, Playa Carola, and a few other viewpoints. The pathway is paved and easy to navigate. We wished we had more time to snorkel at one of the bays, but didn't have the gear/time to do so.

A 15 minute walk from center of town. Beautiful walk on an easy path to get there and great place to jump in and enjoy for free. Beautiful cove and plenty of locals also enjoying. Sea lions, fish of course, adn plenty of sea turtles. Great spot.

We loved this place so much we came back twice. Its a 2 mile walk from the center of town. The only way to get here is through the interpretation center and on the stone path. Its a very beautiful walk. The snorkeling is amazing. There are a few stairs on the rocks down to the water to make it easier to hop in. The water is cold, but we didn't use wet suits and were fine. The water is so calm here making it crystal clear. We even saw blue footed boobies dive bombing all around us to catch small fish. We wished we had invested in an underwater camera to snap pictures of the wildlife under water. This is a must do while in San Cristobal. Try to go early in the day as its a popular place to be.

This was a short hike from the Galeodan suite where we were staying. We did it all w our kids. Beautiful animals along the way. Probably a mile or so hike, all paved and safe. There is no beach at tijeretas though. Just a woooden platform where you jump off and snorkel. Lots of crabs and fish and sea lions. If you found this review helpful pls click HELPFUL below. Thanks!

It’s a nice free activity to do in San Cristobal. The walk is nice and not too difficult. We accessed it through the interpretation centre path. Look-out points offer lovely views and a cool Charles Darwin statue. The bay itself is really nice . We didn’t snorkel in it because some sea lions were blocking the way, but if we had time to come back we would have! Water looked clear , and we saw many sea turtles popping their heads out , as well as a pelican. The sea lions were adorable too. Keep going on the path and you will find a nice beach to relax at with more sea turtles and sea lions.

It is a very good place to snorkel albeit quiet a cold one in August. Playful sea lions were swimming with us. It is a bit hard to reach for the first time. One needs to go through the Galapagos Interpretation centre. Not the best signs to follow there. A must visit for snorkellers.

We had a great time snorkeling on this beach. The sea lion population is large and they are a curious lot. We had to dodge them several times as they swam by to check us out. Quite an experience. Additionally, there were numerous fish species to observe and giant sea turtles. It is a can't miss on San Cristobal.

It’s a 15-minute walk from the Interpretation Center through a good pathway. I suggest wearing tennis shoes for walking to the different beaches in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. There is no beach at Tijeretas. Once you get to the end of the pathway, there are a few steps that will help you get down to the water. Sea lions, turtles, rays, all kinds of fish swim around in this great snorkeling spot. Blue footed boobies will fly just above your head. Renting a snorkeling set costs $5 in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Always bring along bottled water;you do get thirsty after walking and being snorkeling for quite a while.

This has a nice view of the bay where Darwin first set foot on the Galapagos and lots of frigate birds flying around. Excellent snorkeling in the bay nearby.

Easy walk from town up to the top of the hill. Good look out across to Kicker rock and back to the town. The snorkelling area is great. Calm waters and not very deep. Bring your snorkel and your underwater camera. Many sealions (some titles, fish and starfish) are seen there and some swim super close to you. We went two separate occasions but around mid day and swam with a few.
Be careful of the rocks getting in as they are quite sharp. There is a little shade so you can sit for a while too.
Would recommend! Go a couple of times.

Can you see frigates up close (nesting or in trees) here, and is a guide suggested to see them? Thanks!

Buenas tardes, mi consulta es si ésta caminata la haces por tu cuenta o tenes que hacer una excursión? Muchas gracias

Perfectamente se puede hacer por su cuenta. Solo llevar agua y ganas de caminar. Se disfrutan unas vistas maravillosas
