The Galápagos are AMAZING & our land-based trip was enhanced greatly by our group (13 friends) booking thru Galakiwi/Active Adventures and having the tour led by Pepo! Pepo and his associate, Paulo (sp?) were outstanding: their ocean and island life knowledge & passion, humor and great logistical support. They joined us also for a few memorable happy hours too, haha. All of our accommodations were excellent as were the 3 meals/day. Best tour trip we have ever gone on!

My husband and I travel all over the world and plan our own travel as well as use tour companies. Galakiwi is not your average tour company. They are truly invested in their employees and it shows up in every detail of the itinerary while serving the client. They strive to make your experience seamless and relaxing from start to finish. If you’re thinking of going to Galapagos......look no further, we recommend this company with no reservations. Evy Schrager Fresno, CA

We had an absolutely incredible trip with Galakiwi!! I give Galakiwi and the Galapagos my highest recommendation. Everything about the trip was well organized and top notch - from the information before the trip, to all of the accommodations and logistics during the trip. Our guide, Zambo, was incredible - he was unbelievably knowledgeable, as well as patient, kind, and very funny. My mother and I had been planning this trip for over a year, and debated about a cruise vs. land tour, while I can't speak to a cruise, we loved being on a land tour! We could walk in town during bits of free time, and eat and stay in local places. We did the 10-day adventure tour, and it was delightful - lots of different activities were perfect for seeing the wildlife and getting into the landscape. Galakiwi is a local company, so if you are looking to travel with a local, excellent, organized, and honest company, Galakiwi is definitely for you. Thank you Galakiwi, thank you Zambo, thank you traveling companions (we had an awesome group!), and thank you people and animals of Galapagos. I absolutely loved this trip!

Ours was a land-based 6-day tour of Galapagos Islands. And we are so glad that we did it this way--and not the way of the boat--since land-based certainly is the best way to get in touch with the people and culture of these magical islands. We've had the best seafood to eat and very nice hotels to stay at land. The moment we set foot in Santa Cruz and met our guide Pepo at the airport, we knew we were in good hands. Born and raised in San Cristobal Pepo was such a fine, friendly, educated, well spoken, and kind gentleman. We as a family throughly enjoyed his refreshing and knowledgable company throughout this trip. In Santa Cruz we visited the highlands to see the giant tortoises, Tortuga Bay to see iguanas, swam in the nearby lagoon, and visited the mausoleum of Lonesome George at Charles Darwin Research Station--a must see place. In Isabela we hiked to awesome Sierra Negra, kayaked in the protected bay, and snorkeled twice to see some mind blowing underwater world. In San Cristobal, we visited Pepo's dad's famous house, which is a must see for all visitors--it's an official tourist's attraction of San Cristobal. At the front courtyard of the house, perched on top of a giant tree is the world's most amazing treehouse, not to mention the secret cave under the roots of this very tree, and then the orange colored metallic boathouse on top of another tree, within an actual boat, with a queen sized mattress and a functioning toilet. We were just so happy to be with Pepo's family--his parents and two beautiful daughters 4 and 10--that we forgot all about our trip. Next day we went to the Kicker Rock for the best snorkeling experience of our lives. We saw sharks, hammerheads, sea turtles, stingrays, sea lions, and many wonderful fish. In the end we all wished we had more time. Galakiwi Adventures as a company truly exceeded our expectations from all angles. The trip was planned with much care and superb attention to details--hats off to all those who planned this trip behind the scenes. Special thanks to Luara for doing all the pre-trip work. The way everyone in the company looked after us is just so uncommon in today's fast paced world. I'd conclude by saying: Go Land-based and go Galakiwi. Don't think twice about it.

We have just returned from the trip of a lifetime after being on a tour around the Galapagos Islands with our tour guide Pablo and a wonderful group of people. From the day we landed in Quito to the day we left we were completely blown away by the Galapagos Islands and GalaKiwi. Each island is so special, with its fascinating history and the flora and fauna. Our tour guide Pablo, was so inspiring, his knowledge and love for the Galapagos is next to none. The organisation of GalaKiwi was exceptional too, from booking with Laura, to arriving and meeting the group and touring around each island, there wasn't a single glitch throughout the whole tour and they always made sure you knew what the plans were for each day.. The highlight for us were all the snorkelling trips, the sea life we saw was expectational, nothing like we have seen before. The two boat trips between islands; I've never seen so many dolphins and we were lucky enough to spot a very shy whale. We certainly won't be forgetting our trip any day soon and would recommend anyone thinking of going to the Galapagos to contact GalaKiwi to discuss the tour. You won't regret it.
