We had an outstanding week on the MV Theory in early December. Everything was pretty perfect from beginning to end.

The cabins are perfect - I was expecting a small double bed but they are bigger than UK Kingsize. Everything is well designed to allow you as much space as possible without missing anything out, including tea and coffee making facilities in the cabin. There was easily room for all our stuff (ie all our photography kit as well as our luggage)
I loved the full height windows in the cabin and in the bathroom. I wish I could have that view with my shower every day in the UK!

The communal spaces were also very well designed. Everything was spotless and elegant.

There were 20 guests on our week and we were lucky enough to have Galapagos fish expert Jack Grove on board with us as a guest guide which added another dimension to an already brilliant week.

They cram a lot in, but that's surely what you want, no one goes to Galapagos to sunbathe. They are fairly long days, breakfast is usually at 7:30am, with activities starting at 8:30/9am. There are at least two walks/hikes a day, plus at least one snorkelling expedition and/or kayaking every day. Each day ends with a debrief and dinner.

Each day we divided into groups of ten, there were no fixed groups, it was just whoever happened to be first at the back of the boat to get on the panga, which means you can get to spend time with all your fellow travellers and guides.

The guides, Karina and Yvonne were amazing, they were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and most importantly of all passionate about the Galapagos. They were very clear with their guidelines and safety points from the off, and other than the odd "no you can't go that way" no one abused their environment.

All the crew were friendly, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food that was served was nothing short of excellent, especially when you consider the size of the kitchen. The only issue was that sometimes people would leave the lids up on the buffet so food would get cold, however dinner was always table service and exceptional.

The quality of the activities was high. The wetsuits supplied were of a very high quality and they had a good mix of sizes, same with the snorkels, masks and fins.

This was a long awaited, much planned trip for us, definitely a trip of a lifetime and Ecoventura and the crew of MV Theory meant that we weren't disappointed.

This is an eco friendly, luxury trip that you will never forget.
Thank you MV Theory, especially Christina, Yvonne, and Karina for making it a trip we will never forget

There is WiFi on the boat, but limited to one device per cabin.

What really stood out during our stay was the outstanding service from the team onboard, especially Daniela. Everything was done with a smile and no request was too complicated to fulfill.

We did itinerary B with The Theory and saw tons of turtles both from the zodiac and while snorkeling. We also saw penguins both from the zodiac and while snorkeling as well many colorful fishes, sharks, and even an underwater iguana feeding on seagrass.

The rooms were beautiful and well planned with lots of space for storage considering the size. You can even put your suitcases under the bed. Each room has a pair of binoculars but we recommend investing in a good pair of your own that you bring along. We also recommend bringing your own snorkel equipment as you will snorkel pretty much every day. We recommend reserving a room in the middle of the ship for less noise and to bring earplugs. Even though the yacht is only a few years old there were quite a few signs of wear and tear, mainly in the bathroom. Taking the price point into consideration, we recommend an uplift. We did however love the interior and exterior design of the yacht.

The food was good considering you are in the middle of the ocean for a week with a relatively small kitchen. We loved having breakfast and lunch outside on the top deck. The ceviche class was fun but a bit short, probably less than 5 minutes, we recommend going a bit more into detail when it comes to making ceviche. The ceviche was delicious though! Lunch and breakfast were buffet style, we would recommend going for a smaller a la carte menu and focusing on quality rather than quantity. The dinners were à la carte and beautifully presented but left a bit to be desired in terms of flavor and composition. Our favorite dishes were the risotto, the ceviche, the sushi, and the coconut rice. We also loved the pan de yuca, the green juice, and the smoothie the team customized for us each day. In the mornings, we would recommend serving freshly squeezed orange juice rather than concentrate. The house wines were average at best. However, the cocktails were great, and the team managed to satisfy our requests with a big smile.

To conclude, we would definitely recommend Ecoventura (The Theory) for an unforgettable adventure in the Galapagos!

Dear Guest, Thanks for the super review and the food for thought you have given us with your feedback. Very much appreciated. The yacht was designed taking into account our 30+ years of experience operating in the islands, and our knowledge of what the perfect yacht should be, whilst also paying very close attention to our sustainability philosophy that is at the core of everything we do. We are pleased that you liked the layout and design of the Theory. The variety of the meals and juices that were freshly prepared also sound like they went down a treat. Thanks for your suggestion about lengthening the time of the ceviche class - if you would like us to send you a recipe and a detailed instructions of how to prepare the dish please do get in contact as it would be a pleasure to help. Thanks again for choosing ecoventura. Kind regards, Jonathan Quality & Marketing

My wife, granddaughter (18 years old) and myself spent a week on Ecoventura's Origin in the Galapagos Islands in July, 2022. The itinerary was fantastic, including generally one walking trip and two snorkeling trips each day. The ship travelled from one island to another during the night, and we used small speed boats called pangas to get from the ship to the shore or to the snorkeling location. There were 19 of us passengers with a crew of 14, which included two naturalist guides who were experts in the flora and fauna of the islands. The ship was immaculate, the bunks clean and comfortable including a TV with movies, and the food was outstanding. The entire crew was incredibly friendly and helpful. The trip would have been memorable just for the staff, but it was truly a life altering experience because the birds and animals are so easily observed. They don't fear humans because we have not preyed on them on these islands. So you can get within inches of them. You can swim with sea lions, sea turtles, and even a shark or two! You can walk midst hundreds of marine iguanas. You can watch a giant tortoise mosey right up to your knee. The guides were super at finding the animals and guiding us through their habitats.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for summing up perfectly how special a week aboard the Origin is. We are all really pleased that your family had a trip of a lifetime to the Galapagos Islands. Our guides are quite incredible how their well trained eyes can spot the wildlife and then explain all about their habits and idiosyncrasies. The crew are also a fantastic bunch who take great pride in their roles. Thank you for choosing Ecoventura. Kind regards, Jonathan

We had a great time on the Origin as a family of five - kids ages 9, 11 and 14. We did a family voyage with Itinerary A - Beaches and Bays. March is a great time to go because the water is the most calm (none of us experienced motion sickness although bring meds just in case) and the water is warm. We did have some rain but it didn't hinder our good time! The boat is comfortable and pretty and the crew does a great job of feeding the guests and providing everything you need. Our naturalists were very knowledgable and made it fun for adults and for kids! Sea lions, sharks, fish.. we saw it all and then some. I highly recommend Ecoventura as it seems based on comparison shopping that the boat is the most high-end and I think the size is just right for this type of adventure. While we were on the boat, Evolve and Theory were usually nearby and from what I saw, the company did a good job of grouping boats based on demographics. Our boat had the younger kids, another boat seemed to be more families with teenagers and the third had adults. That said, I think mixing the ages is also fun!

We booked our Galapagos trip with Ecoventura. They were fantastic. They were available by phone and always responded to emails.

We elected to stay on the Letty, a 20 passenger boat. The room was comfortable and included a private bathroom. The beauty of a small boat is that you are not assigned a guide or a group. Gustavo and Freddy, our guides, were passionate teachers about the Islands, the natural history and their current challenges. We alternated naturalists, so each day our crowd was a little different.

Captain David was always asking if he could do anything to make our stay more comfortable. Luis was always smiling and bringing coffee, water, gin and tonics, or whatever your heart desired. Maria cleaned our rooms more than once/day.

Meals were delicious, prepared with tasty and healthy ingredients and served in an open-seating dining room with comfortable booths. It was a great way to get to know all the fellow passengers.

Every day we were busy hiking, snorkeling, and taking panga rides. We saw everything we wanted to see, including penguins, hammerhead and other sharks, sea turtles… the list is endless. On our last day we even had an unexpected visit from a pod of hundreds of false killer whales.

I wholeheartedly recommend Ecoventura. They also managed our booking to the Napo Wildlife Centre in the Amazon Jungle. Without exception our trip to the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon jungle was seamless and surprisingly luxurious and comfortable.

I rarely leave reviews but this trip was so transformative I find I must breach my customary wall of silence. From the second my husband and I stepped onboard till we hugged our guide goodbye at the airport, we could not stop smiling. 20 passengers and 17 staff members moved seamlessly throughout a voyage that took us to islands accessible only by panga and inhabited only by wildlife.
Each day was packed with so many activities it almost seemed like it had five extra hours and yet there was still time to relax in the deck and get a full night's peaceful rest.
Imagine coming up out of the water after snorkeling with giant sea turtles and playful sea-lions to see your guide waving madly from the panga...she had sighted a pod of dolphins and sped through the waves to scoop up every guest and give chase. What ensued was an exhilarating high speed ride as dolphins leaped up around us close enough to touch.
Once the pod tired of toying with our panga, we returned speechless to the yacht to a crew waiting with one set of hands extended to help us aboard, another to take our wetsuits and snorkel gear, and a third to pour each guest a cup of hot thick Ecuadorian chocolate.
I can go on for weeks but it would be better to let you be surprised. Suffice it to say that no detail was overlooked, no whim left unanswered. All while keeping the boat and cabins pristine, the meals healthy and absolutely delectable, the coffee strong and hot, the cocktails creative and delicious.
What could surpass a voyage where the scenery is magical, all your physical comforts are attended to, and your traveling companions are interesting and engaging? Nothing, I fear.
Bravo Leandro and Karina, our wonderful, knowledgeable guides, Maria, our efficient, sweet, and smiling cabin attendant, Mofer, our cruise director, Captain Duran, Daniel, Adrian, and Diego, the bartenders, the chefs, the panga drivers....every single crew member. Thank you.

We had a phenomenal time on the Origin with Ecoventura! We were 3 families with 5 kids ages 11-15 and our boat, guide, crew, and experience went beyond my expectations. The service was 5 star, they went above and beyond every day, but especially for my son's 13th birthday, and the tour was gorgeous and varied and the small size was perfect. I'm not a boat person, but this was still amazing and I would highly recommend Ecoventura.

Econventura was the only company providing a two week back-to-back experience traveling to both the northern and southern Galapagos regions (they refer to them as itineraries B and A). You do not visit the same locale twice during the two weeks and that says a lot.

Our experience was great. The guides are first rate - smart, entertaining, knowledgeable, safety conscious. The rooms (and sheets!) are excellent. The chefs are amazing. The cabin staff are the happiest we've encountered in our travels (thank you Maria!). It's impossible to think of a suggestion for improvement.

The Northern route is very different from the Southern route. The northern route involves significant motoring as it's a long way to Ferdinanda and Isabella islands from San Cristobal. The motoring is worth it as these are pristine environments. I'd say the deep water snorkeling rivals any scuba dive that I've every done.

The Southern route is great as involves a lot more excellent hiking.

The species that you get to see are similar on both rotes, but the Northern Route allows you to see the flightless cormorants. While the Southern Route provides albatrosses. At one point in your life, you really should witness the courtship ritual of the albatrosses!

I can highly recommend Ecoventura, especially if you like to be in a pristine environment while living a life of luxury:)

Going to the Galapagos has always been on my bucket list. Putting a trip in someone else's hands is always a risk but it was better than I could have dreamed of. I have never liked the idea of a cruise but as it was the best way to see the islands I had no choice. Ecoventura offered trips that were small and personal. What I hadn't banked on was making life time friendships with other passengers that truly made the experience!
As a biologist myself I always hope the guides will be good and I cannot fault them , especially as they were passing on knowledge in a language that wasn't their mother tongue. Fernando and Antonio were amazing and their photography skills were also excellent and the fact they gave us a lesson in how to take better photographs was an added bonus.
The boat itself was spotlessly clean and the constant snacks and food were terrible for my waistline😂.
The food onboard was fantastic , easily top restaurant quality and with lots of choice. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff, even when due to jet lag we were up at 5.00am.
The Galápagos Islands should be on everyones bucket list as a dream holiday and I can think of nothing that Ecoventura could do, that they do not already do, to make the experience better. I 100% recommend Ecoventura.

A very well run organization. The staff is excellent from the front office to the ship's crew to the guides.

The front office staff is exceptional and are very patient in helping to schedule the trip and coordinate the flights to San Cristobal (where the ships are located) from Quito or Guayaquil. The process is seamless and idiot-proof (which is exactly what I need).

The ship is beautiful. The staterooms are quite large (especially for a cruise ship).
