This is a small but very good museum. It gives a good history of the struggle for independence of the Timorese people. Anyone going to Dili should put aside an hour to find out more about the country.

The Resistance Museum provides a balanced account of the history of Timor Leste and the struggle of the people to overcome the Indonesian Occupation of their country. If you can join a guided tour take advantage of the opportunity as the guides are well informed....More

This museum gives a very good overview of the sad and violent history the Timorese have faced. There is a video of the Santa Cruz massacre which is very raw and confronting, nevertheless, it is part of the bloody history and I was ashamed to...More

Really interesting exhibition on the struggle of the Timorese over the past and it's different colonisers. There are fascinating facts and artifacts. Unfortunately the end movie didn't seem to be playing which was a pity as it probably ties a lot of the intense reading...More

Multi lingual description of TL's history including Portuguese occupation. Pictures, photographs and copies of documents . The film clips weren't working the day we visited, but still an extensive amt of resources. All presented chronologically, so one gets a good overview. Also talks about the...More

To understand East Timor and its people this museum is a must. The museum details the creation of this new nation from a 400-year Portuguese colony, to a brief freedom before twenty five years of brutal Indonesian occupation and then the role of the UN...More

A environment for what Timor could offer. Somewhat small but sufficient for the purpose. Often there is another ad hoc display of cultural value. Worth visiting and supporting the initiative for a dollar.

Wish we had more time to really read it all and take in. But like in any country, after you have been to such museums you begin to understand the answers to many of yr previously unanswered questions. To get 5 stars, I would recommend...More

The Museum is only 2 or 3 blocks from the Port (as opposed to the airport which is a lot further). Easy walking distance.
