The Rijeka Central Market (Croatian: Centralna tržnica) is a farmers' market that takes place daily from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There are market stalls both outside and in several market halls. However, it is not particularly beautiful or worth seeing.

The whole terrain around the theatre building was filled with soil and reclaimed from the sea during the 19th century. The first pavilion, the fish market was built in 1865, and was later rebuilt in 1916. The other two pavilions were opened in 1881. The central market is today very important architectural heritage of the city and in the same time a lively and noisy place, popular with locals and tourists, the real soul of the city.

As Croatia's third largest city, Rijeka has nothing tourist-friendly to offer.
The locals are unfriendly. Hardly anyone speaks English. In the center there are mainly just cafes and bars. So you won't find anywhere to eat comfortably except McDonald's and Burger King... We spent most of our vacation outside the city.

Great market but nothing exceptional I must admit.
One building for meat, another one for fishes and outdoor for vegies and fruits

The locals advertised this place saying it's the best market in Croatia. When we got there, i was really disappointed: some peaches, cherries and local berries. And what shocked me most is the hucksters' attitude - such a rude and disrespectful attitude to customers! I don't know what croatioan problem is - maybe it's still the influence of the war or something else. It's a beautiful country but he attitude of the locals leaves much to be desired. I will never get back to Croatia.

Rijecka is a rather big town with shops and eating facilities and 3 authentic halls where they sell fruit and vegetables, meat, and fish. It is nice to see once, but the hygiene standards are not ok and that is why it smells terrible. Also the town is not that clean.

The Fish Market is the best part! It's the building that's closest to the water. Check out the great aquatic sculptured building features especially the fish and octopus over the entrance. The stairwell in the back was open and we climbed up to the gallery level for a great overhead view of the action.

Three 100 years old market halls from the k & k - times offers the best food from all over Croatia. The fish market is perhaps the biggest, the best and the cheapest at entire Croatia. At the meat market one can buy lamb from the island of Cres or horse meat. Around the market halls local dealer are selling fruits and vegetables, herbal teas, mushrooms, but cheap clothing and leatherware too.
A very funny place with nice taverns around which offers good & inexpensive lunch.
