Plitvice lakes private excursion from Rijeka or Opatija

Every season of the year brings with itself a different spectacle for the senses at the Plitvice Lakes. The Plitvice Lakes are famous for their 16 cascading lakes that form a gorgeous ring of water. The stunning scenery in the park was created by the flow of water over limestone that over time created travertine barriers that resulted in waterfalls, lakes, and caves.
The Park was designated a national park in 1949 and in 1979 UNESCO entitled it a World Heritage Site.
Enjoy the wonders of nature, an astonishing view, clean air, nature’s sounds and the sheer joy of just being somewhere so vast and diverse. Standing there, you can really say you have become one with nature. Plitvice National Park can rightfully be called the most magnificent place in all of Europe. Lunch at a local restaurant on your own. Continue the walks through the park and forest and enjoy the beauty surrounding you.

The most quaint town you can actually stay in. Most attractions of this type are only for paying customers to visit & a few privileged locals to live in. So imagine our surprise when our accommodation "Euroway House" was right in the middle of Kastav - the most quaint ancient village you will ever stay in. With a massive natural park attached to it, where it looks like nothing has changed for the last 500 years you can still see the stone foundations of ancient buildings & amphitheaters that existed in a buy gone era. You could spend days just exploring this park. Not to mention the most amazing views from the old castle towers of Kastav - of which, I think 5 are still standing.

Kastav was a nice stopover on our way to the east of the country. It is a pretty town and worth spending an hour there.

Kastav is beautiful and the best part is that it is not very busy. We visited the old town for the first time for supper and were so taken back that we returned another day and arrived earlier so that we could see more. The old town is hilly and has lots of cobble stones so wear sensible shoes. There are plenty lanes to walk down and admire the old buildings which date back to medieval times. The most majestic part is the view of the Opatjia Riviera which is equally lovely day or night. The views were also impressive from the old fortification. There are a few nice restaurants - it's a lovely half day out.

We had a nice walk up the streets with a beautiful view of Opatija riviera at the end. Old streets are narrow, cats are sitting on the stairways, beautiful flowers and gardens everywhere. Very nice place in Rijeka neighborhood.

Beautiful view on Kvarner bay. Old romantic city on the hill. Kvarner must see. You can find many good restaurants.
