I'm not much for shopping for a $500 purse, but maybe you are. If not, do what I did. Take the escalator up to the 3rd (top floor) and get a comfortable beach chair (complete with sand!) order a drink and watch the city and ocean through the clean huge windows. After that, go outside on the deck and watch the dolphins play in the ocean.

I think this is a great addition to Atlantic City. The views are wonderful and as you walk through on the upper levels there are areas with beach chairs and sand up against the window looking out across AC giving off the feeling like oyu are at the beach. There is a fountain on the first floor that you can view from any of the three floors and it actually has a water/light show every half hour or so. Worth the time to see it. They have very high end stores here such as Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Gucci, however there is one store on the 2nd floor by the escalator where everything is $15 and you can usually find something. Ate at the Irish Pub restaurant and it was not bad, would recommend it if you like steak or lamb chops. Its a nice change from the smokey casinos and loud ringing bells.

Too bad the city has declined, but this is quite a gem. Enjoyable even though many stores have recently closed with the decline of the casinos and tourism. An enjoyable break from the casinos and just a nice walk, even if just window-shopping.

The PIER

Because it was New Years Day and I was traveling with darling husband and sons we chose a sports bar, Game On which we thought was at Caesars. Well, it is at the Pier attached to Caesars via sky walk, or the boardwalk. The Pier is all enclosed, by the way.

What a treat it is to go into the Pier! We were fortunate to have a warm clear sunny day and the view from the third floor was spectacular. Beach grass and lofty wooden chairs face the view so sitting in the sun with toes in the sand was a reality even on the first day of January. Wonderful. This place is actually a mall, with Rodeo drive shops mixed with modern upscale mall staples. Think Louis Vuitton meets The Body Shop. Thankfully no return lines or holiday crowds to detract from the clear elevator rides, hourly fountain shows, free form staircases and beautiful décor and water sculptures. I hate and may I exaggerate, HATE shopping malls but this place was delightful and worth a stroll to the end of the pier for the ocean views and breeze. There is an outdoor observation deck end@ Pier. This Pier is convenient to Bally’s and Trump Tower and a weather permitting stroll from the rest of the Boardwalk hotels. Maybe another poster can verify if this was the former Steel Pier, where we used to watch horses jump into the ocean in the 1960’s! Egad!

Unfortunately on the boardwalk there are still handicapped beggars and men wearing old military uniforms out there. Are these the same guys Giuliani kicked out of Times Square ?

The pier is not what it used to be. It’s completely empty with just a handful of shops and 3 restaurants. It used to be a nice area to walk around and have lunch. Now it’s about 75% empty.

T Street is just the first phase of The Playground the impressive renovation to the former Pier at Caesars that is changing the face of entertainment options in Atlantic City. The idea was to emulate Beale Street in Memphis or Bourbon Street in New Orleans or Music Row in Nashville.

I was lucky enough to be invited to their VIP Preopening Party June 25th and the concept works. With multiple music venues side by side you'll notice two things right away. The personalities of the rooms are different and there was something for everybody from a large stage act in a two story venue to a dueling piano bar that had people dancing and singing along and a venue with a duet acoustical act.

Interestingly as loud as the music was (not annoyingly but loud) in some of the venues you never heard music from a room other than the one you were in. It really felt like you were walking down a street with a variety of choices - exactly the idea they were going for.

They have Garces Down the Shore handling the food with very good and unusually affordable options for Atlantic City. While listening to live music I enjoyed German Sausages with Bavarian salt pretzel, German potato salad, sauerkraut and house mustard for just $8.00!

With more to come as time goes on including a bowling alley and 2 pools and 14 music venues and an ocean front beer garden I think they've created a great new place to enjoy in Atlantic City!

I am not lucky when it comes to gambling; I might as well take my cash and shred it. So while my spouse played slots, I wandered through the mall. The stores were nice, but pricey, the decor was appealing, and the whole place looked well maintained. After waking through levels one and two, however, I found a little piece of heaven on the third floor. Tucked between the dining areas were Adirondack chairs along side floor-to-ceiling windows, facing the ocean. I had brought a John Connelly novel with me, just in case I found an open bench or something, so this was a real treat. Million dollar views, a good book, and my better half won $50.00...s great way to spend an afternoon.

What is there to say? Totally depressing. A lot of empty store fronts. I get they want high end and really expensive stuff. But let's be honest. This is Jersey. This isn't some mall out in Vegas or in the Bellagio. They have a huge outlet, what like 2 blocks away lined with stuff most people buy. They need to turn this into I dunno. Something. Make it something family friendly. Like a sky zone or laser tag, bowling. Anything. Maybe I am in the minority, but I don't think a mini mall is needed here.

I visited "The Playground at Caesars" on July 18, 2018. Over the years I witnessed it's birth, it's heyday, it's decline ... and now in it's death throes. Gone are the fountains. Gone are the upscale affluent retail shops - a grim reminder are the wall clocks once advertising the elegant New York watch store Tourneau. There are still a few restaurants on the third level and a pathetic few remaining shops near the front entrance. The overall impression is both sad and even bizarre ... the dozens of empty shop fronts covered with huge photos of attractive models smiling, winking, shopping, laughing. There is a film-maker on YouTube named Dan Bell who does mini-documentaries on dead and abandoned shopping malls - "The Dead Mall Series" - and this place fits right in. It remains like a grotesque reminder of failed American consumerism and retail over saturation.
