About
Escape AC is located right in the heart of Atlantic City at the Tropicana Casino Hotel. Our top quality venue combines highly immersive sets with clever puzzling to deliver four themed and challenging escape room adventures. We recommend ages 13+ due to the challenging nature of our puzzles. Visiting the shore in South Jersey and ready for 60 intense minutes and 1 seriously good time? Look no further, Escape AC is Atlantic City's finest hour!

We did the Backstage room for New Year’s Eve and had a blast! We weren’t staying at the Tropicana, so parking was tricky and it took a while to get to the escape rooms from the parking lot so give yourself extra time in getting there if you’re coming from somewhere else. We had Josh as our game master and his hints were good enough to help us along without giving us the answers. Josh was personable and took the time to really compliment us for completing the level (and flattery will get you everywhere). Thanks for adding to our New Year’s shenanigans. We will be back!

Fun for the whole family! We had adults and teens. Tried to walk in, but there wasn't availability, so we booked our time out a few days. It's not cheap, but we thought it was worth it. We choose the easiest room, but with only 4 people - we did not escape, but got close! Our game host Taylor (aka Kevin), we very helpful! We already want to go back and try another room.

Did not really have fun with this one. It was very frustrating. Game master not helpful at all. Would ask for one of the 3 clues and would not respond. Overall disappointed with this game. I have played games before.... and at this location. Casino cage was a better experience.

We did boardwalk and casino cage and escaped both rooms. The attention to details was amazing. We had done escape rooms at two other places. The rooms here are very unique with a bit of a twist compared to the other places we did. We plan on doing another room next time we are in Atlantic City. I highly recommend a visit here.

The only downfall to our experience was that we booked a time slot and since there were only 3 of us ended up being with 4 strangers, that would have been fine but they were supposed to be there at 6 for our 6:15 time slot and didn't show up until after 6:20 so they missed the rules and instructions and we spent a portion of the beginning of our time trying to explain everything to them. We did the casino cage so we were inside the cage and they were in the room area. We got out of the cage and tried helping them but it was kind of a cluster. We got about 90% of the way through and overall had a great experience. I definitely recommend this escape room!

I'm am a moderate escape gamer. Done over 10 so far. Was really excited to try the games here at the Trop because I figured they would be good. We did the Casino Cage. Our party was broken up into 2. I thought the game was great. Good props, clean room, great story line & it was all about AC! I like how they used the hints. Unfortunately we didnt solve the puzzle in time but we were close. Within 10 minutes. I've never been to an escape room where they never actually let u solve the puzzle, even if u go over time, with extra clues after. After all the reason I spend the money in the 1st place is to solve the riddle whether we finish it in time or not. Typically they will leave 30 mins between booking so they can setup the room again. When we ran out of time the guy said we had to quit. I asked him how long it took him to set the room back up & he said 6 minutes. 🤔 He should've let us finish but instead we were denied. Gotta admit escape games aren't easy. Majority dont finish in time. You should seriously consider giving people a little extra time to solve the puzzle even if u have to give them some more clues to move them along. After all we did pay $333 for 1 hour of game time

QUICK SUMMARY: Loads of fun, a better use of $40 and an hour than losing your money to luck. If it's your first escape room or you don't know if you're a puzzle person (or know you're not), DO NOT do the Poker Room expecting to win.

If you don't know what this is: You're locked in a room, and you have 60 minutes to get out! Work through a series of various puzzles to escape in time.

My cousin (age in 20's) and I (20's) have been talking up doing an escape room game for a while, and we figured we'd get an attempt in during our AC trip. I've done seven of these before, of varying difficulties and quality, and she had never done one. At the last second, I roped my mom (40's) in as well, and she loves puzzles, so I knew she'd have a blast also doing her first escape room.

After they explained the rules, we were let into our planned room: the Poker Room. They told us this was their most challenging room, as only 5% of people managed to escape.

Long story short, we had an absolute blast. We didn't win, but we all had an amazing time, and my puzzle-fiend mom won't stop talking about it. And even I was amazed.

The Poker Room was definitely built for five to eight smart, fast-thinking, organized, and well-coordinated people. We made it really far in with three people, but the assistant that helped us at the end told us that our results weren't typical at all - we made it further than most groups of six! The challenge was real.

Obviously trying to spoil it would be no fun, but I can tell you at least this - every second counts. Don't give yourself a second to relax, and don't get too comfortable!

A quick summary of what's good and not:

PROS:
-One of the most polished, well-built, and durable rooms I've been in so far.
-Clever puzzles that test many kinds of logic.
-Very few time-wasting puzzles. The right types of people will do even the harder ones in a few instants.
-Responsive staff supervising the room.
-Great hints.
-Secure storage for your stuff.
-No random trivia; it works with 5th-grade-level math/logic. Even one puzzle that could be considered "outside knowledge" by standard knowledge had a great hint or two to guide it.

CONS:
-It's 18+. Yeah, I was bummed too, I couldn't take a younger cousin in. I think a 13+ rule could bring a lot of families in, but I understand venue and liability concerns given it's a casino and tourists can be a doozy.
-Part of the challenge in a room escape is organization and stringing together logic, and there isn't much designated room to lay things out neatly. They have a hard "no stuff on the ground" rule, which I understand 100%, but it takes away some space for used items.
-It's hard to convey some of the weird/frustrating logic/item flow without spoiling it, so just consider "mild logic/item flow issues" the con. Keyword here is "mild," but it can trip people up. You just need to know what you're looking for and have a good eye.

(These aren't severely bad things, though. They didn't ruin the experience for me, especially not the age thing. Ha.)

CONSIDERATIONS/IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT IT:
-It's recommended that you book in advance.
-It comes out to just under $40/person.
-If you don't book the full room all at once during a popular season, there's a likelihood you'll be placed with strangers, which can go either way. My family was just three, and we were lucky to just have us, because we mesh very well. But be ready to try (keyword) to make new friends.
-You don't get anything if you win or lose (as far as I know). It's an experience! Like riding a roller coaster or surfing or going to a concert.
-Expect to be there 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after - about 90 minutes, total, minus whatever time you manage to chop off by escaping.
-Pee before you go. They aren't gonna pause for you.
-The Poker Room was very small (....ish), but there were some chairs. I don't know whether to call it "handicap accessible," especially since escape rooms often involve a degree of mobility.

If this is your FIRST TIME trying to escape, DO THE OTHER ONES INSTEAD! If their other two rooms are anything like this one, then you're going to be in for a great, polished experience only topped by other veteran companies (and I suspect one was hired to construct this location). It'll set your standards high for this type of event forever. It's a great experience for companies, parties, families (above 18+, sadly) and other groups.

If you're experienced in puzzles and logic, absolutely do Escape AC. And if you're up for a serious challenge, tell the Poker Room I said hi - even seasoned escapers will need every single second in there. And more. Good luck!
