Don't bother going. After paying double for the boat and shelter we were told we had to sit in, we couldn't even get a cocktail! When we went to return we were presented with a paper "voluntary" bill for equal to $20 as a tip. We refused.

A short boat trip but not sure why you would bother when the beach is huge at Santa Marta. Clear water here is nicer though, if you can bear the usual tourist crush and hassle.

From the car park to the beach is a filthy litter strewn walk down a rough path. Once at the beach things get worse with a continuous string of jerry built hippy shacks. Some locals were visiting (we went on a Sunday) but the place is obviously aimed at the sort of backpackers who want the cheapest option and couldn't... More

Crowded and a bit dirty from the amount of litter. But it looks exactly like the photos. White sand and turquoise water.

Playa Blanca is a decent beach, but nothing that is worth the trip from Santa Marta to El Rodedero and then a boat ride to the beach. It is clean, but very crowded. You pay appx 20 for a tent and then another 20-40 for lunch. I was not impressed by the beach and would not return if I were... More

Pros: Beach aaalllllll the way at the end of the island is awesome. Not as crowded or as loud. Water during the day is calm, at night it gets more waves. Note the water is warm so you may or may not like that. Cons: Food was terrible. Flies everywhere so expect there to be some on your food. Dogs... More

We got a boat across from Santa Marta which was really cheap but it was the first week of new year and the crowds were insane. It took us 20 mins to find a spot to put our towel down. I'm sure it would have been nice as the sea seemed quite clear.
