As in any large city in the world, the center is sometimes filled with effervescent popular commerce, which is also confirmed in Carabobo and surrounding areas, with the typical products of dubious quality and low prices that are found in mine and in your city as well. !
There is obviously little care, despite the obvious policing.

We had a lot of fun bartering for "Ray Brands" and "Coverse" in the streets around the Paseo. Blocks and blocks of vendors selling wares.

Everyone was friendly and respectful. With a simple "No Gracias," they would stop asking and wouldn't pester us anymore.

As a general rule, we offered about 25% less than asking price and generally settled somewhere around 10%-15% off. It may have been possible to get items for less, but it would not have felt right.

I felt safe but still kept money and phone well hidden. Lots of police presence.

I would recommend wandering through the Paseo and surrounding area. It's lively and fun.

We passed by Paseo Carabobo on our way from San Antonio metro station to visit the plaza Botero next door. Beautiful buildings nicely restore to their former grandeur, lots and lots of street stalls and places to shop, just be aware that its sometime hard to spot the real from the counterfeit.
Whatever the price is offered for goods, ask 25% less then settle for 10%, it’s all in the fun of haggling, and at all times keep your valuables safe.

TIP: Check out the interior of the Centro Comercial Palacio Nacional.

By all means, shop till you drop, but the building itself is fascinating for what it once was and how it's been tastefully repurposed.

Great area to find work-out clothes. Some excellent indigenous craftwork kiosks. Get soccer jerseys in this area. The people are very friendly. There are police around and mostly families, so it's safe and fun. The Metro station is within a block.

This building was erected in the 1920s according to our guide. There are not a lot of old buildings in Medellin so if you're into architecture and shopping you should go. You can bargain for anything you want here but don't be greedy. Buyer beware though, this is the epicenter of name brand knockoffs! It's funny to see names like "ArMONi" and "Louis VuiTOM" LOL! Great fun and a good compromise for an outing that suits both HIM and HER. Bring comfortable walking shoes and keep your belongings close (a cross body bag is probably the best option, not a purse) and get ready for a huge place electric with activity and alive in color.

I noted this place while walking back from San Antonio Metro Station back to my hotel. I just walked around, looking, but did not buy a thing. No space in my luggage!

It's a beautiful and big building, very crowded and with many offers for people. Located over the Carabobo street near to the San Antonio metro station.

Peatonal carabobo pedestrian walkway is just next to plaza Botero and is a stretch of blocks with hundreds of people and shops. ‎Walking this pedestrian street mall is very chaotic without much of value for the average tourist. If you are pressed for time, skip this, especially during the holidays.

You feel a bit like you're at a night market in Bangkok. Everything is sold on the street here. All the crowding and pushing shouldn't bother you.
