Paisas are very proud of their metro system and this tran via is part of it. The city of Medellin has done a great job at promoting a culture of respect for the system and between the users, which easily shows. It is probably one of the safest, cleanest and easiest to use system I have seen around the world. The tranvia takes you up to the metro cable through a different route and it gives you an opportunity to see a different side of the city. Keep an eye on your belonging like you would enywhere else and have fun discovering Medallo.

Fantastic way to get a round the city. Buy a card and preload it. If you go san Javier stop and go to the cable car you can do the full loop at no extra charge . Great view for the 25 minutes

The bus and tram system aligns with the metro very well. You can navigate the city easily on either or both in connection!

This is a nice experience to go from downtown to the eastern hills of Medellín. It is a safe ride that can be taken at San Antonio metro station. At the eastern end you can take off and jump into a gondola to a metrocable ride to La Sierra. It takes about 20 minutes round trip. A different scenery of the city. Some of the poorest families live in this area. By getting off at Bicentenario or Buenos Aires station you could have a chance to taste some local food sold on tents or small restaurants.

You can board the tram to access 2 additional Metrocable lines. The farthest cable line is no additional charge, but the one half way up forces you to leave the ‘paid zone’ & you have to pay again the continue on the cable car line & then again to take the tram back to San Antonio station. Price is only $2,550 COP. - about 78 cents US...well worth it.

the transportation in medellin is great, the new tranvia has numerous stops and you can also take the cable car up the mountain . it is used to help transport people back and forth to work and main parts of city, it is sad at time to see how poor people are,and the conditions of homes as you travel in the cable car. but if you are in medellin it should be something to visit and see, i recommend carry your backpack or purse in front of you zippered and closed. wallet or cell phone in front pocket buttoned or zippered or in back pack or purse. this advice is much more important in Metro than tranvia, but use common sense, at times there are no seats and people are pushing and shoving standing against each other. police are at every stop and it appears safe. this is a great in expensive tour and a great way to see the city.

I've ridden the tranvía several times already. Not because it's convenient, or it takes me to where I need to go, rather because I've included it in my list of must shows when hosting guests from out of town.
I'm glad that clean, modern and stylish modes or transportation exist in Medellin and are accessible to all citizens of this city, more so when the majority of users are those of lower economic means. The tranvia covers a short stretch in the downtown area, but interestingly enough, none of the times I've been on it has the train been more than 10% occupied. I say it's a tease, because this is only a short route that's unfortunately not very helpful or of any use unless you work or live in that small area. So, I hope that this experiment proves to be a success and more efforts are made by the City to expand the routes all over the city.

Star your visit with a tinto (black coffee) in the Salón Málaga, take a look at the walls, with photos of latin artists. The streets are crowede and there are security cameras on the poles. All the way to the top you will be seeing the work of local artists covering the walls of what have been part of the comuna. The street art is amazing.

French built, trams are whisper quiet and smooth as butter. You can ride them up the hill and choose one of three metro cable (gondolas) to go towards the rim of the valley for an jaw-dropping view.
