Typical church of Latin America, near the Center and with active commerce. I do not recommend a restaurant in this square called"Restaurant Boyaca" where they treated me badly for using the bathroom. It is not whether I should pay or not but the lack of professionalism with which they work. If you want to go to the bathroom or eat something, don't use that restaurant but go to the Cultural Center (the beautiful palace in Botero Park), the admission is free and the bathrooms are free and very well maintained. Iglesia tipica de Hispanoamerica, cerca del Centro y con comercio activo. No recomiendo un restaurant del area "Restaurant Boyaca" donde me trataron mal por usar el baño. No es el pagar o no sino la falta de profesionalidad con que trabajan. Si quiere ir al baño o comer algo no uses ese restaurant sino ve al Centro Cultural (el bello palacio en el paque Botero), alli la entrada es libre y los baños gratis y muy bien cuidados.

Walking past the market Tejelo towards the Plaza Botero we passed the little white church of de la Veracruz. Built by a group of European immigrants, on land purchased from Luis Acevedo Rides in 1682 by Captain Juan Cespedes de Hinestroza, as a place to for foreigners to celebrate mass and bury their dead. Unfortunately, in 1791, the church was under so much disrepair that it was demolished, and rebuilt in 1803. The largest bell, on top of the steeple, was melted down by Sage Francisco José de Caldas and cast into a cannon for the War of Independence in 1810. There is a Statue to Atanasio Girardot, in the small courtyard next to the church by Francisco Antonio Cano, the altar work of fine gold and the retouched images in the same metal was done in 1976 by father Celedonio Arismendi. There is a fountain in front of the church and many fine examples of Christian art work on the church’s interior walls. In 1982 the church was declared a cultural heritage, and is font was restored by the Ferrocarril de Antioquia foundation.
