About
This sprawling nature reserve covering almost 40 acres is located on top of a hill just outside Medellín. It's a popular place for picnics and has plenty of nature trails for hiking or cycling. An experienced tour guide will be able to point out endemic species like butterflies and orchids amidst the lush forest. Don't forget to pop by the local market—which is at its most bustling on the weekends—to find local produce, handicrafts, and souvenirs. While you can drive there, one of the most scenic ways to get there is to ride Medellin's Metrocable L Line, which requires a separate ticket from the standard metro line. – Tripadvisor

    Amazing nature oasis
This is an amazing opportunity for the entire family to escape the busyness of the big city pase. It provided us an opportunity to enjoy the peace and tranquility of being surrounded by the beauty and harmony of Mother nature. You're surrounded by waterfalls, nature trails , park activities, and extreme sports if you desire. I highly recommend this evolution!

    Amazing park
We had an amazing guided tour by the staff of the park and it lasted almost 2 hours. The food that was available was also very good and the coffee was good too. Just the cable car ride into the park is amazing. Definitely worth the money and half the day!

    Amazing Parque Arvi
Parque Arví is a sprawling nature reserve located just outside Medellín, Colombia. The park covers almost 40 acres (approximately 16,000 hectares) of dense forest, plants, and ecosystems. It’s situated on top of a hill, offering sweeping views of the surrounding area. We took the short hike with an English speaking, experienced tour guide, Oscar! He was very entertaining and pointed out endemic species like birds, butterflies and orchids amidst the lush forest. We took the most scenic way to get there by riding Medellín’s Metrocable L Line (requires a separate ticket from the standard metro line). Whether you’re interested in nature, history, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Parque Arví is a must-visit when in Medellín! 🌿🏞️

Giant Park with much to do....
A huge park (40,000 acres) whose scale you recognize as you take the cable car ride up to the park. Largely forested with flora and fauna in distinct ecosystems. Reportedly has 70 species of birds, 72 types of butterflies and 19 species of mammals amongst. There are many trails here, both walking and for bikes, motorized and not, including the Pre-Historic trail, possible 1,500 years old. There is much to do here which I didn’t have the time to do properly. Leave yourself at least half a day.

First, due to some cable car repairs, we had to catch the bus. The information on how to do so from the park itself is very vague and nearly wrong. The "Little Theater" they mention has a name, Pequeno Teatro (which I know means Little Theater, but we were told it was the theater close and that name didn't show up in our search and why not just put the actual name so guests can find it....anyway...) and the corner intersection they mentioned was good, but many buses come through and we ended up catching with a different name than what they mentioned. So minus points for not laying out a little more clearly how to get there. Loooooovely little towns on the way through that we drove by: I might recommend stopping in some of those little out of the way places instead of visiting the park, honestly, though there are limited shops and some restaurants so it might not be for everyone but for those looking for local character). Lastly, the park is very difficult to navigate, and we come to find out that they want you to go with a guide, but even getting into the park, there's a very confusing map who the guide herself admitted to as being confusing. There's not really an information station. The park itself is nice, but, here's the thing: America has amazing national parks. I live in Colorado, and have worked in parks in Virginia, and led excursions in parks in California, and visted everywhere in between. This park does not meet those standards, though I appreciate its biodiversity. Nevertheless, the trail system, some of the information, need to be addressed. It's also public and private property, so you can't go to any part of teh park: some are off limits and some would require you to pay another entrance fee. Maybe I have high expectations, but I can't rate my wife's and my experience that highly. We had a beautiful day, but the park was underwhelming. We took the cable car back and that was a highlight for the novelty and some of the views. I would look for another option---just get out to Guatape for an extra day or something.

The park can be reached by public transport. Transferring from the metro to the cable car is quite an experience. The sights give a mixed feeling of shanty towns under the sunny and colourful winding streets climbing the hills and surrounding the city. A real spirit of Latin America's neighborhoods. Another transfer awaits the traveler after ascending several hundred meters and leaving behind two more cable car transfer stations. The last cable line leaves you with an amazing view of the city while venturing through the woods. Quietly skipping along the treetops we arrived at the last station. A small market with local crafts, good and music opens the visitor to very nice walks in the woods.

We thought we’d stay in the cable car and visit a park overlooking the city! But in fact it is some distance and be aware from a hot city it was also a little chilly. Decide beforehand if you want to get off as it costs double vs just going for the view over the forest & coming straight back in the cable car. There’s not too much there unless you want to do a paid for tour.

The ride to the park is a little pricey, but beautiful and worth doing in itself (I went via the Metro Cable). I arrived late morning and spent most of the day there. I didn't have enough cash on hand for a guide, so I followed a group that had been there before to the "free " area, which was a bit of a hike. (Good thing I encountered them. It wasn't that intuitive and I might have had trouble finding it on my own). Most of the paths from there on out are paved and near bigger roads, which may have contributed to my not seeing as much wildlife as I would have liked (though I did spot the bird that's on all the tablecloths down near the entrance!). It says not to get in the water, but some of the locals do so in certain spots. I would have taken a swimsuit had I known. I met some nice people, although I speak Spanish so that helps a lot. I went on one of the side trails for a little while, but it's not well marked and I was a little worried about hiking on my own. Even those trails are very near main roads, so I figured if I got lost or had some trouble I would just head towards those. There are a number of people around, and many places where you can get food and drink if you don't bring anything with you.

Overall I had a great day, walking around, looking for wildlife and at plants and taking pictures, and I met some interesting people (mostly Spanish speakers). But I would recommend coming early in the day (I was surprised to encounter a fair number of people entering the park in the late afternoon. I don't think that's enough time and worth the price to get there) and/or forking out money for a tour. I don't know how the tours are (or if there are some for English speakers), but the park isn't really geared much towards independent, non-Spanish speaking travelers.

Getting here is half the fun. You take a gondola ride to the end of the metro, and then you have to purchase a new ticket for a special gun to let you go here. There are not views of the city from here, but it is beautiful with many trees. You have to pay to go on a forest walk, but it was beautiful and we really enjoyed it. We went in the late afternoon shortly before closing, and it was not very crowded. If you want to get a break from the city, I recommend this place to go, plus you get great views of the city as you ride up the gondola.

The place is filled with a lot of natural sight seeing attractions, small waterfalls at a walking distance, and camping sites, water steams. Mouth watering food options like traditional bandaja paisa , trucha fish, empanadas et al, just near to the metro cable end station. There is a local marktet next to the station, where one can buy souvenirs and have local freshly prepared snacks. Hiking options (with or without guided tours) deep inside into the the nature abode. A quick local bus ride to piedras blancas, an ecological park nearby, with boating options.
And, if you are adventurous you can go all the way to beautiful Santa Elena few miles away. Lots of options available all around. And, one can plan different activities in different visits even.

We stayed in Laureles and opted to take an Uber to Acevedo station. Even with traffic, it took less than 30 minutes and cost less than $8. It was worth it to avoid switching trains TWICE to get there. Be warned there is not much signage and it was a little tricky to identify the right platform and area to get the cable car to Parque Arvi. Also we didn't realize there were a couple of stops between Acevedo and the final stop for the parque.

The cable car ride was great. Our car emptied out for the last leg and the views were fantastic. Got some beautiful pictures. Once we reached the parque we discovered the guided tours were Spanish only - our Spanish is not good enough for that. LOL So we opted for the self guided tour. You pay a small fee and a staff member unlocks a gate to admit you to a hiking path. Not much in bloom when we visited but still enjoyed the hike. We were early and it wasn't crowded. That was good - many sections are quite narrow. Some sections are a bit steep. We spent about an hour and half on the shortest trail. Stopping to take pictures or sit in some areas. Well worth a visit. If you're not up for the hike, go for the cable car ride!

The ride up the cable car was great!!! The Arvi Parque at the top is restaurants/food. We did not adventure into the actual Park and walking as some friends were not fit enough. There is a cost to enter/walk the park. Go on a weekend or Friday as they have some artisan work/sales. Enjoyed it - maybe next time would walk in the Park to see what it is about.

Got talked into a hike by the person at the counter. We had really less time decided to do it and realized the tickets were 50000 per person. It took us 25 mins to walk the short trail. It’s a cute garden and decent enough walk through the park but would not recommend it to more people. Sigh. I’ll chalk it up to being tourists.

To get to this Park I recommend using the metrocable. You use the same card as for the metro, so it is very practical, fast and easy. The views on the way up this cable car are the best in the City of Medellín. Then upon arriving at the park we found a good number of stores where entrepreneurs offer a variety of products. Entrance to the Park is cheap and guided tours are offered, but you can also explore it on your own. Contact with nature is spectacular. The atmosphere is colder than in Medellín, since it is at a higher altitude. There is a restaurant area, souvenir sales, bathrooms, etc.
