After researching on TripAdvisor for a private food tour of Medellin, I decided to go with La Mesa, and I'm so glad I did! From the first email with Lina, everything went as smooth as it could've been. Lina was so fast with her responses, and customized the tour to our needs. We met our guide David on time, and exactly where Lina said he would be. From the moment we met up with him, to when we said goodbye, David was an absolute all-star! He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and spoke immaculate English. He was very laid back and didn't overwhelmed us with his comments. The tour itself was just terrific! We decided to combine a 3 hours food tour, with a 3 hour tour of La Comuna 13. The food tour was awesome, as David took us to various street vendors. Everything we tried was really good, and David gave us some good background information on each dish. The Comuna 13 is an absolute must do, and was such an amazing cultural experience. We got to take the cable car all the way to the top, where we got breathtaking views of Medellin. The streets definitely come to life at every turn, with multiple graffitis that will take your breath away. The various street vendors and performers also add to the charm this place has. We even had the chance to play some football with the local kids! Overall, this was such an incredible journey throughout this amazing city that has so much to offer. I highly recommend going with La Mesa Food Tours, as their professionalism, Punctuality, knowledge, and quality of tour will be match by no other company in the area. Two thumbs way up to Lina for setting this up, and to David for being the superstar he was!

We learned so much from David while enjoying yummy food and seeing the neighborhood. The link of food to culture and traditions was a big part of us understanding more about Colombia and Colombians on our trip. The Empanadas were the absolute best we had ever had. The fruits and juices was a surprisingly fascinating part of the experience. David's sharing of history, his and the country's was helpful. This tour was part of us falling in love with all things Colombia.

David provided an enjoyable food tour for us. It was interesting to be introduced, among other things, to the fruits of Colombia and the juices enjoyed by the people. David also spent time talking about the recent history of his community. What a great experience.

Had a wonderful time exploring El Envigado with David. Since he is from the area, he was able to provide amazing context for the local dishes he shared. We also appreciated that he had been a city guide previously as well, so he was able to share Medellín history as well. The empanadas, arepas con queso, fruits, and churros were our favorites!

First of all, David was an amazing guide and was quite fluent in english. He knew the area well and his explanations were yo the point. The empanadas were to die for. The juices were excellent and quite interesting, one was a natural viagra and another claims to cure cancer. They all tasted great. The fruits in the market were simply delish and some brought back memories from out childhood country of Kenya. The pork belly and beans were excellent especially while sipping on a cold beer. Had some aquardiente to finish off the day. David helped us find some picante we could buy to take home with us. We highly recommend the tour especially with David
