About
Medellin Bike Tour celebrates 8+ years as the 1st/original cycling adventure throughout the urban core of Aburra Valley, combining physical challenge with panoramic views and profound insight into Paisa pop culture, economic history, politics and civic transformation. The 4/5-hour journey is limited to 6 riders and costs $50 each ($40 when 3 or more confirm together) or the Colombian peso equivalent and includes meticulously-maintained hardtail mountain bikes, bilingual guidance and emergency medical insurance. The starting location is key, launching north of the congested tourist district El Poblado in Laureles (20-minute cab), thus providing safer, more convenient access to highlights such as the Botanical Gardens, Plaza Mayor, Parque de los Deseos, Pueblito Paisa, and the historical epicenter of the city - Plaza Cisneros. Medellin Bike Tour delivers quality on all fronts for sophisticated cyclists seeking a visceral workout and powerful introduction to the "City of Eternal Spring!"

I was in the city only a couple of days and wasn’t sure about booking this bike tour. Now i can say that booking Medellin bike tour was, hands down, the best decision i’ve made in this short trip in Medellin. Dan is a great guide and a great guy! He is knowledgeable but also passionate about the city. You’ll understand why and how Medellin transformed itself in the last years. Bike was perfect and safety concerns were addressed properly. What a great ride!

This was a great way to see Medellín! My boyfriend and I did the tour with Dan on Sunday April 23, 2017. Dan was a very informative and fun tour guide! The route he took us on was perfect, we got to see all of the major sites and take pictures. The views from El Volador & Pueblito Paisa were awesome! The bikes were in great condition, probably the best I have used on any bike tour. Bring suncreen and your camera!

After inquiring about biking tour of Medellin at Atton Hotel in Poblado, they recommended Medellin Bike Tour and it was the best decision to do. Dan, the owner and the guide was communicating easy and clear and we met as instructed. After short custom made set up of my bicycle we headed for a tour. Tour was amazing. I was truly impressed with knowledge and logic with which Dan introduced me to Medellin, and explained history and present of the city. Bike tour was mix of easy urban biking, some park biking and some up the hill biking. It gave me insight and perspective that I would never have and helped me discover my new favorite section of the city, Laureles, maybe little less posh than Poblado, but definitely more authentic, livable and perfect for biking around since it is much flatter. If you are cyclist in your own city, DEFINITELY book Medellin Bike Tour with Dan and ENJOY! You will learn about architecture, history, present, politics, get introduced to some amazing views, realize that city has amazing and impressive network of bike trails, try some local snacks, I was lucky to have an excellent coffee and feel at home in this impressive city and meet some locals to which Dan introduced me. Thank you Medellin Bike Tour and thank you Dan!

My girlfriend and I had an amazing day with Dan riding through the streets of Medellin. This tour is for athletic and adventurous people so it was perfect for us. We covered a lot of ground and Dan gave us loads of information about not only Medellin and its history but Colombian culture in general. Would definitely recommend to all!

Cant recommend enough. My friends and i contacted Dan who wasnt in the country at the time but managed to set us up wih a tour. Our guide, Carlos was terrific. He was a bit shy about his english but it was more than sufficient and he was able to describe the city and show us the sights. We feel like we really made a friend there. The ride itself was great, but definitely a work out.

Exactly the kind of tour my friend and I were looking for. Dan led us throughout Medellin, making many stops along the way to discuss the history, culture and sites in the city. We were also able to do 2 optional hill climbs for amazing views of the city (and a great workout 💪). Dan also kept us safe when we had to ride on the occasional busy streets and even bought us some refreshing Guarapo (sugar cane and lime juice) and fresh potato chips along the way. Best and most informative city bike tour I've been on. Highly highly recommend!

He was very accommodating to us......even being ok with us skipping the up hill portion of the bike trip. He did a very good job of explaining the city, its background, its redevelopment, and showing us the most important cultural and historical sites in the city. I must say that there was tons of traffic on Sunday, so weaving in and out of cars...and racing across the streets behind him was sometimes a challenge for a biking novice. Maybe pick a weekday instead with less traffic.

Thanks for the honest feedback, Mike! Yes, we rode on a super-heavy traffic day. However, please allow me to clarify that our tour was on a Saturday, not Sunday as you commented. In fact, Saturday traffic in Medellín has become the heaviest day of the week versus Sunday and/or holidays, which are super relaxed. Safe travels!

The bikes and material were excellent, but the tour itself was very disappointing. The guide Carlos did not speak English and his assistant was not even a Medellin resident. Furthermore, the guide did not wait for the entire group before starting explanatory chats about sights. The things that I could hear were rather superficial like signs in the streets and traffic lights for blind people and a shared bike system (these things are common use in Europe and not invented in Medellin). On top of this, the guide lost 2 of the participants and 1 participant threw up, because of the unexpected steep hills during the trip. All in all, the tour was nothing that was expected and you will learn nothing about the history of Medellin. If you want to climb up two hills and enjoy a nice view this tour is fine (expensive though).

As the creator and owner of Medellín Bike Tour, I take great pride and interest in maintaining excellent client satisfaction. As you can read in dozens of prior comments, we have earned a reputation for delivering a top-notch tour experience. In the interest of integrity and accuracy, I've reached out to you and Carlos to get both sides of the story. I'd now like to make readers aware of a few noteworthy details. First of all, you guys arrived 30 minutes late and with bag loads of breakfast food which further delayed the start time. Carlos informed me that you also had been out partying until 5 in the morning and that this was the main reason why one of you threw up. In short, you simply weren't prepared or in a proper physical state to be taking an athletic bike tour. Secondly, Carlos delivered all the intricate historical, cultural and traditional information in addition to the "superficial" information you mentioned. It's possible that some of the content depth you were expecting was lost in translation, but he also shared with me that you guys often distracted and difficult to guide due to lots of "clowning." According to Carlos, the two riders you claim he "lost" actually decided to pull away from the group to hang out at a restaurant. Although Carlos was aware of this decision, they were nowhere to be found once it was time for the full group to resume the tour. Is this his fault? Finally, I made an exception to my 6-maxium riders rule to accommodate your group of 8. This included renting additional bikes (added cost on my end) and hiring the translator. Despite cutting you guys a deal on the price, you still criticize. Forgive me, but this is simple "whining." In short, Medellín Bike Tour is designed for responsible, cool riders who behave like adults; you get what you bring!

Prepare yourself for an outstanding, comprehensive and enlightening PERSONALIZED tour around Medellin. The amount of knowledge Dan shared was incredible and always interesting. He truly knows his city.
Another plus with the tour is Dan’s flexibility when it comes to various levels of endurance. The city offers amazing views, but it takes some effort to reach elevations with the vistas. In our case our tour was tailored to include just one moderately strenuous ride and it was just right for us.
Dan is kind, very intelligent, friendly and genuinely concerned about safety and comfort.

We will repeat the bike tour on our next visit!

Dan toured us through the City with the perfect mix of biking, narrative, street food, astounding views, local knowledge, and just plain fun. In fact, it was so good I will be doing it again next week when my wife drops into Medellin. I would strongly recommend doing this tour early in your visit to Medellin so as you immediately feel comfortable in this City that has long ago left its bad history behind.
