Great place for birding. Stayed two nights. Didn't bother with activities but I did swim in at the beach. Not excellent because no clear management or leadership and it was our first place in Colombia - I lost some binoculars and nobody really helped me. But the location and birds were brilliant!

Great place! to be in a jungle environment without machetes, that's great! I stayed 1 night and did a lot of walking around the best time to walk around and see animals is when night falls. Go from the restaurant to the entrance and search with your torch at the roadside, we saw some great insects and animals!!! Nobody does... More

The bottom of the river is marble, yes, marble. The water is crystal clear and the landscapes are just amazing!

This place is beautiful. We rented a car and drove from Medellin. It's a long walk if you take public transportation. A few things to remember - PRINT your reservation. We made reservations over the phone. They sent us a confirmation with a price, but I did not print it. When we arrived they asked me how much we were... More

We arrived to Río Claro after around 5 hours of driving. The place is 100 natural, beautifull and peacefull, the service is nice, the rooms are clean and with nice view. The menu is just one for lunch and other 1 dinner but tasty. You can enjoy all the activities and the scenaries in 2 or 3. Just avoid stay... More

Incredible views and sights. All the activities were fun and the guides were extremely nice and helpful, they made all the activities fun while teaching you about the conservation area. It's a must of you're in Medellin

I had read about the Río Claro El Refugio Nature Reserve and thought it would be a good place to experience some tropical rainforest while also breaking up the bus trip from Medellin to Bogota. It turned out to be all that and more. In order to make a reservation, I had to telephone someone (I think in Bogota) and... More

Rio Claro is an incredible sight to see. It's basically in the middle of the jungle but not terribly far from Medellin and Bogota. Honestly, I agree with the majority of reviewers: this is not a place to go if you're an experienced adrenaline addict. However, as someone who is not a highly-skilled adventurer, this was perfect. We went rafting,... More

I had heard lots of really good things about Rio Claro. The good news?? You can indeed do all sorts of outdoor activities here: hiking, zip-lining, a cave tour, rafting, camping. It's not too expensive. In general, it's reasonably priced. The bad news?? Well, most of these activities are made to be doable by people with a relatively low level... More
