The idea of building such an amazing building in one of the toughest areas of Medellin with the mission of bringing new energy and hope in the area is just brilliant. An amazing library with free wifi and computer access is just amazing. Right now...More

The library is unfortunately closed until further notice. I have no doubts that the architecture is as beautiful as described and that it is an impressive structure, however the place is currently covered by a black tarpaulin.

On your next visit to Medellin, you must go to the Biblioteca de España...Nothing really exceptional about visiting a public library except that this one has an amazing architecture and is located at the top of a favela, which was once the most infamous part...More

Really nothing to see at the moment (November 2017) because of renovations. Only reason to go here is for the amazing views in the cable car.

I would love to give this place a glowing recommendation, but unfortuntely there isn't much to see. The area is closed off, and the library is covered up as it undergoes repairs. I was very disappointed when I made the journey this morning. It's a...More

This is one of the many library parks in Medellin. I really wanted to visit this one, but it is currently being renovated. The library parks are one of the major innovations in this city; try to visit one of them.

Twenty years ago you wouldn’t adventure for safety reasons into Santo Domingo, the Comuna 1 of Medellin. Like in other “hot” comunas of the city (3, 4, 6, 8 and 13), violence generated by drug trafficking and other armed groups kept away citizens from visiting...More

Go for the views of the city. The library is under construction -- looks like they're not only repairing the existing buildings but adding a third phase. The neighborhood is fine, and walking around a small perimeter area felt perfectly safe. I was with a...More

The place is overrated. There is no question of its social impact, what is critical is the condition of the building. As a building is poor. The best library project is Parque Belen, but not possible to suggest.

As other have reported this is closed for renovations. Of course, the gorgeous views are still there. However the street leading to the library from the metrocable felt less safe than during my visit three years ago. Perhaps that is because there is a lot...More
