if you need a respite from the crowded, loud streets of medellin (not that i don’t love the city but it can take a lot out of travelers not used to navigating the downtown core) do yourself a favor and walk beyond the parque de las luces and you’ll end up near the city hall. ask anyone where the newly renovated area is near the river.
what an amazing oasis! it’s clean and a great place to walk or sit and read.
there’s also some restaurants but i didn’t try them.
the serpentine net sculpture is a great thing to explore with adults or kids and if you’re with a local they can rent free bikes for an hour at a time (not available to tourists because the locals have cards issued by the city which allow them to unlock the bikes at any station, use them for an hour and then return them to the same or any other station) which is what we did. it was a fun way to while away a couple of hours and on weekends there are lots of families enjoying the green space.

It is a place where I go every Sunday at 8:30am to teach yoga classes, outdoors, trees and birdsong adorn the moment, a place that lends itself to doing different activities and getting out of the routine of the day. week, you do not need experience and it is a voluntary contribution. Next to the La Ribera restaurant, bring your own mat

I had a wonderful time visiting the park! It was great to see people really using the spaces the way they were intended. Sports, dancing, picnicking, walking dogs, flying kites, doing yoga, even a man playing a flute. I felt safe with regularly patrolled routes by the police. There were no loiterers or homeless. The park was clean and offered a beautiful view of the river. Many hotels are nearby.

The river that flows through Medellin is a cesspool of filth that is reminiscent of the L.A. Wash back in the day. Trash and poverty line it's "shores" throughout the city. So it's nice to see the start of what could be in the future, which is a pretty park flanking it's banks. But there is so much work to be done.
Focus should be on not polluting the river in the first place, garbage collection, and a proper sewage system. It's nice to walk your dog through a pretty park and all, but more so if it's not beside a river filled with trash and chemicals.
3 stars for doing something. Hope more is on the way.

Nice square. And shows the use of space the banks of the river with leisure and entertainment options. Very different that we have in relation to the Tietê river in the city of São Paulo.
