Beautiful building, a gem in the not so pretty centre. The art galleries are really well planned out and, at the time of my visit, really varied. I love the top two floors! Well worth a visit but... Maybe avoid the café on the too floor:

The reasons I won't return as often:

The music on the top floor is ridiculous. It was like a dance club, not a relaxing art gallery/ cafe environment.
The coffee shop experience was terrible. The customer service was very bad, the coffee (americano) was disgusting and I asked for water twice and never received it. When I asked why I didn't receive it they refused to take responsibility and didn't even offer me the water at the third time of asking, instead making excuses. I will not spend money there again.

We visited this on our Real City Tour. Literally in one door and out the next. Built in 1920 as the palace of justice, and has been nicely restore to its former grandeur and is now a shopping center, centered around the huge auditorium with stores where the former government offices once were.
The architecture is stunning, and the stores had just about everything you needed, real or fake.
TIP: The architecture alone is worth making a trip.

Palacio Nacional is in the heart of the city on a main shopping street. It’s very beautiful and sticks out like a sore thumb. The building is a mall, which we could care less about, but it’s worth stepping in to appreciate the architecture.

I appreciated the architecture and history of the building, but, not really being a "mall person", I had no desire to spend much time inside. I found the area surrounding the Palacio Nacional to be much more interesting as it was packed with local vendors selling everything you can imagine.

The outside crowd and the street markets full the surround venues. Then you enter in history. A breathtaking art, recovery work and life. Is all that you live in this city heart. Don't miss it.

The inside of the shopping center has a huge atrium with stores lining the former government building. The architecture is stunning and the stores were varied and interesting.

We visited Palacio Nacional as part of a walking tour of the city. The history and architecture of this building is pretty cool, and there is also a great spot for coffee here, but otherwise the shopping feels very much like a typical mall in the US.
