We spent a marvelous afternoon visiting a flower farm which supplies some of the beautiful displays during the annual festival in Medellin. Andres, our guide, was very informative and provided translation of the farmer's narrative if perfect English. After a traditional (and tasty) lunch we walked amongst the flowers. Incredibly beautiful !! On our way back to Medellin we stopped to enjoy Arvi Park. We then rode the Metrocable down and back and enjoyed the views of the beautiful county side while taking photos of the experience. We highly recommend this tour with Andres and Medellin Day Trips.

Amazing colors, creativity and warm hearted people of Medellin. We made a trip to corregimiento of Santa Elena where the arrangements are being. From here the silleteros are carrying on their backs flower arrangements to the exposition site in the City of Medellin.

If you are visiting Medellín in August, you will have the privilege of attending one of the must beautiful, colorful and entretainned festivals in the city. Public concerts, art performances, gastronomic and handicrafts exhibitions, parades... There are events for all, from kids to seniors. Come and enjoy our kind and happy culture!

We bought Palco tickets from "Turismo en Medellin". The palcos were overcrowded, very hot (no fans), shoulder to shoulder with the people sitting by. No room between your knees and the person's back in front of you.
They oversold tickets so people were seated in the access steps which made it a safety hazard in case of an emergency.
Visibility was not good as the benches were not graded enough for the people in the back to have good view of the street.
It is better to get early and grab a spot by the curb, bring a chair, umbrella and snacks. The desfile was great!

La Feria de las Flores

This is done annually from the last Friday of July or the first of August until the first or second Sunday of August.

In this fair we can see The Parade of Silleteros, The Parade of Old Cars, The Parade of Stair Cars (Chivas), Exhibition of Orchids, Flowers and Crafts, The Equine Fair, The Parade of Sileteritos, The Reign of the Trova and many tablados with national and foreign musical groups and many other events.

I highly recommend this fair, Medellin becomes a single flower, the shopping centers present a variety of shows, all related to flowers.

Who is interested in coming, I recommend making a hotel reservation, for taking January in the year, because hotel occupancy can reach 95% at that time.

Incredible week of events and exhibits. Starting with the antique car parade and the little Silleteros parade. The exhibits at the Jardin Botanico were out of this world for Beauty and variety of orchid species not found anywhere else in the world. We took a trip up the flower farms up in Santa Elena which is well worth the trip. Finally the Desfile de Silleteros was amazingly beautiful. The only draw back is the enormous volume of people from all around the world. Would highly recommend buying tickets to be able to get there when you want and sit under cover from the elements. Will be back next year.

This is once a year event in the early August which takes place for nearly a week. The whole city of Medellin has a multitude of events such as concerts, parades and truly exquisite flower show at the Botanic Gardens. You will find the flyers, posters and fans advertising the festivities. The culminating event is a parade on Sunday in which the main attraction are 500 man who carry giant circular shape flower arrangements. We didn't get the tickets and were not able to sit at the risers, but some kind people let us close to the parade. This was a unique event. No other like this one!!

Been on my bucket list for a while. Fantastic. Great festival. Be sure o buy tickets otherwise you won't see much. Really you can see much of the main event in 2 hours. If you don't get there early enough you will be standing. Incredible.

It is a very good experience, because you see all kinds of flowers, they make a parade of old cars, singers go and you spend the day with great joy
