Lovely Elegant Plaza by the side of the cathedral. It was quiet whenever I passed compared to other plazas in Cartagena but I still thought it was a lovely stop. There's a statue of Pope John Paul II in the corner by the cathedral wall

This plaza was one of our stops on the free tour of the city. We learned that the independence was proclaimed on 11/11/1811 at 11 am. It's a nice plaza with a building undergoing some restoration. There is a statue of John Paul II right next to it.

Nice statue of a local hero, Simon Bolivar? Sorry after awhile it’s hard to differentiate between all of them as I am not a historian.

excellent place to visit. In his Square the Independence of Cartagena was declared. Very historic, very interesting place to visit. There are lots of shops to look around, people selling all kind of regional products, nice bars, and restaurants at night. There is a Statue of St John Paul II in the corner of this plaza and Calle del Arzobispo. Worth visiting

This is nice to go shopping. And has very nice historical buildings to see. It is different at night with the lights to see also. Enjoy the walking around.

Good place to see traditional street vendors, some sculptures and a big open space right in the heart of the historical center of Cartagena.

It is a typical town square with no much to see in it actually. Nothing to recommend....you will pass it through walking around town and will not notice

Compared to the rest of Cartagena I found this area less inspiring than others and less interesting than most others. If pushed for time can be missed.

This plaza and the surrounding area are very nice to spend an hour or two around sun set. There are some nice cafes and restaurants around and sometimes they have a sort of market here for souvenirs.

Not much to see here. We did take a picture with the ladies who wear costumes and take money for photos.
