The candy market is great fun! Most of the vendors sell the same things, but there is some variation. Some look fresher and better presented. It is fun to browse and bring something back for friends. Very colorful!

If you’re wandering around the old city enjoy a cool stroll under the arches with stall after stall packed with sugary sweets. Paradise for anyone looking for a sugar rush. Try the cocada, balls of syrup and coconut, or the blocks of guava paste wrapped in banana leaves. These are actually great as energy bars for cycling or running - and you can get a whole box of them here for the price of one piece in Europe.

Nice achitecture. Stall after stall of sweets. Couldn't be sure any of it was fresh and did not buy anything. Walk through.

Portal de Los Dulces is located in the Plaza de Los Coches. In the arcaded walkway there are many sweet shops and areas to retreat from the heat. Great place to pick up a little treat to take back home but also to admire the architecture while you have a cold refreshing drink.
