Missed opportunity

The Museum of Art is great. However, the Museum Store leaves much to be desired. Specifically, it has little connection with the Museum. The star of the museum is Rita, the inspiration for several pieces by adopted local artist Enrique Grau. My wife and I were ready to buy a reproduction at the store. There was none. In fact, there was nothing in the Museum Store tied to the Museum, no posters, no postcards, nothing. Instead, they have art items such as souvenirs inspired by Las Meninas, which happen to reside in El Prado, Madrid.

Birds and sculptures

Outside of this place there are lots of iron sculptures that are very unique. There are also many birds everywhere and some of the local children will come feed or run through the birds.

Birds, Birds, Birds!
Jul 2015 • Family
This plaza was a beautiful plaza. Aside from the historical attractions, lots of pigeons sat on rooftops at one end of the plaza. Periodically they would all lift off and fly low through the plaza to the other end and perch on a roof top. If your were in the plaza then it was like a swarm of birds all around you. Reminded us of scenes from Hitchcocks film 'The Birds'. Fun!

Incredible architecture

This city square is incredible and designed similar to the Vatican's main square with the church overlooking the center.

Nothing was particularly wrong with this store but it had quite average gifts that could be found anywhere in the city. Was hoping for more.

One of Cartagena's Best Shops
Jan 2014 • Solo
This is the delightful "museum shop" for the Modern Art Museum in Cartagena on Plaza San Pedro Claver. There are, of course plenty of shops in Cartagena, but none have such a great selection of handmade, and artisan articles for sale. What makes this shop such a delight is the variety of items. There is everything from whimsical childrens toys and clothing to rather serious artistic pieces. This shop is one of those places, far to few it seems, where you really have to let your eye absorb each piece. In other words an overload of colors, textures, and designs all vying for your attention. Besides the children's toys the items that stand out are the ceramics, and the weaving/textiles. The location is right next to, on the corner of, the building housing the Modern Art Museum. And, right across from the St. Claver Church that is a must see stop on Cartagena's touristic circuit. In front of the shop is that curious collection of outdoor sculptures. The "curator" or owner is Patricia Cesareo. Just in case her email is: patcesareo@hotmail.com
