One of the highlight of my trip was sailing with Rudi and Yamiela! The ship was amazing and the dinner service was phenomenal. I highly recommend booking with them, you won’t regret it!

This was an amazing experience. The ship is beautiful and Rudi and Yamiela were beyond fantastic. We sailed the sunset along the coast of Isla Mujeres and got to enjoy the views, the homemade meals and the drinks provided by the crew. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to charter a private ship and avoid the crowds of Isla Mujeres!

We went to playa Blanca on a day trip with Mamallena tours, we left at 12pm from Mamallena hostel and it took around 1 hour to get to the beach. When we got there we got on a short boat ride to a more secluded part of the beach, we stayed at the Ocean Blu area on the beach where we got drinks & lunch, swam in the sea and sunbathed - do be warned the sea around this area is very rocky so take care as I cut my feet and knees on the rocks! The tour returned to the hostel at 8:30. We had a wonderful day and really enjoyed having a base to come and go from. The only problem I had with the whole day was we were told about the “Plankton tour” from 6:30-7:30 and given the option to do it for 30,000 pesos, I would NOT recommend. You get a boat to a “Laguna” where you get the chance to swim in the glowing plankton - at the beginning there was 10/12 people going on the tour, next thing our boat picked up at least the same number again, it was jam packed with people it was very uncomfortable and honestly felt unsafe the entire time, there were no lights so basically people were swimming in the pitch dark. The plankton was underwhelming. I would highly recommend the Mamallena tour to Playa Blanca but skip the plankton & have another beer while you wait for the boat!!

We only took the bus one way, but it saved us an ugly boat trip. Super convenient....thanks Mamallena!

We took the shuttle on a Saturday for a day trip. We stopped by the hostel a couple nights before to purchase our tickets. Pick up at the hostel was scheduled at 8:30 with a 3pm return. Everyone was ready to go at 8:30, but the shuttle left at 8:45am. It was an older barely air conditioned vehicle. Along the way we stopped to pick up a couple locals. We were too full when we came upon the roadblock, so one man hopped off prior and jumped back on after the road block. The trip took longer than the 45 minutes advertised. We arrived at the beach at 10:15am. We were then surprised to learn that we were getting on a boat to drive down the coast instead of walking. I was not pleased because I booked a shuttle in order to avoid the dangerous boats I've read all about. They pulled us up to one of the last restaurants. One of the Mamallena employees seemed to have a deal with this restaurant. He told us all to come this way for a locker, restrooms, and watermelon. We purchased chairs for 20,000 pesos each and spent most of the day there. (Just a warning, the hawkers and touts were down here too. Women touching you for massages, men trying to push jewelry and hats, jet skis, etc. I think it is less intense than the beach near the parking lots.) The group all met back at the restaurant at 2:30. But we didn't get back on the boat until after 3pm. We boarded, the boat dangerously crashing into the shore. I hurt my wrist bracing myself. We finally get everyone in, but only one motor was working. We got far out beyond the waves, and the second one dies. We sat in the water for about 10 minutes before they got it going again. Back on the bus we made it home after 4. I was prepared for the craziness on the beach, and that is not the hostel's fault of course. I was disappointed at the lateness and the boat fiasco.

OK, you made some points on this but I think we have to make some others clear. You booked in the absolute high season in Cartagena. Traffic can be hectic, and there can be delays, obviously we cant be held responsible for traffic, and the trip usually does take around 45 minutes. The bus shouldnt have left late, especially if everyone as onboard. The AC should be working. The boat. n no way were you obligated to take the boat, as you just paid for the shuttle. We provided the boat as a FREE additional service, along with the lockers and watermelon, IF you wanted to use it. The restaurant is actually ours, so of course we would like you to go there but in no way were you obligated to do. The point of the shuttle is you can go where you like, but we are providing the boat service as an extra. Even if yu take the boat you arent obligated to buy anything at the restaurant, even after eating the watermelon!!! I do apologise of there was some confusion but its not our intention. I will be investigating about the engine as that shouldnt happen, but you were not far off shore and in no danger. You certainly cant compare that 5 to 10 minute trip to the wave you have in the open sea on the way back to Cartagena by boat. So, we do apologise, its not our intention for you not to be happy, and again, I think you are actually partially unhappy about something we are offering you as an added extra, and could be called good customer service!!
