My friends and I were specifically looking for a tour of the islands and the bioluminescent plankton. There were so many travel agencies and people that offered this while walking around in the walled city. The one that offered us the best option and did not seem like a scam (based on the detailed explanation of the tour) was Chela Tours Cartagena. Graciela offered us a business card and told us we can find them on social media. We compared prices and looked for them on the internet before paying for anything. I recommend booking the tour with them. It was AMAZING! Everything they promised was what they offered and more. Our tour guide Santiago was very patient when he picked us up from our hotel and made sure to always take care of us. The breakfast was light but good and we were able to buy a cooler and drinks for the tour. Some islands are private so they're never able to show you all of them. Though they did not have enough snorkeling gear for everyone at first, they did their best to make it work. They offer free underwater photos at the coral reefs (even though the quality is not amazing but it's free lol). They offered fruits and then a shrimp cocktail as snacks before the lunch. The lunch options are fish or chicken with rice and plantain. The lunch is served at Isla Baru and it was very good. The only thing I wished was a little more time at Cholon Island because it was very fun there and it felt like we spent way too much time at Playa Blanca in Isla Baru (it depends on whether you prefer to party or relax). My favorite part was swimming with the bioluminescent plankton at night! Make sure you go during a new moon or as close as possible to a new moon! We were under a dark sky and were able to see the plankton so well! It was so cool and the starry sky was beautiful! They definitely warn you about how chilly it will be at night after swimming so try to take a light sweater or a big towel. I recommend a waterproof phone case (which I bought in Cartagena for cheap) so you can take pictures throughout the day.

They pickup at your hotel then you have to go to the harbor. After the ticket for go to the Harbor (only cash) you have to thing what you have to do all day long. You must order the lunch, you can choice between chicken and fish. During the wait before boarding you can drink an excellent orange juice. In the boat you must wear always your life jacket. The boat run at 30-35 miles for hour. The sea at rosario is beautiful you can make snorkeling (extra charge) or sea the Aquario (extra charge). The Aquario is interesting but sometimes you can’t see the dolphins show because your boat is waiting. For the lunch you go to the Playa Blanca. The drink are extra charge.

I enjoyed the tour so much! The beauty of this place is unique. You can have the option to spend a few dollars on a trip or pay a little more for a private tour. I suggested going to a private one. I see some people complaining about the return from Islas Rosario to Isla Baru because of the speed of the boats, that can be a little scary, but you get what you paid if you want to have a pleasant and quiet experience spend some extra bucks.

One thing you must do is a snorkel and see the corals.

Listen I will be honest the isles are beautiful and it is worth going there but not with the company JHONY TOURS, we paid for a luxury boat and instead got some small, very dirty boat, when we got in contact with the owner he just said that it was all he had since the other one wasn't working apparently, the service started 3 hours late as well which made our time at the isles much shorter.

When we got in contact again with the owner requesting a discount since we had lost time and that was not the boat we paid for, he treated us badly and told us that we were scammers.

This is unacceptable and really bad customer service, I would never recommend this company at all to anyone.

If I could give 0 stars I would.

We went there as a part of “boat tour to 4 islands” and we were quite shocked.
The color of water is dirty green, full of people and no place to really sit down unless you buy very local foods there at one of stands. No beach. I couldn’t believe why the photos we can find on the internet are so different from reality. (Probably due to the season) To be honest I would really not recommend going there especially in January (for other seasons you fois refer to the people who went there in each period of year) it gave us an impression that we were thrown into the very disorganized, unclean, and very noisy place where there’s no space to relax.

the tour consisted of bus ride to baru playa blanca then from there boat ride to 3 islands lunch in playa blanca, tour of planton by night and back to cartagena by bus in the evening. tour started by hotel pick up at 0700 hrs and return by 2200 hrs.
very poor quality. the vip place in playa blanca had not toilets, the boast had to lather to get off while doing the non existing and the promosed coral reefs are dead and long gone. Must say the guides very nice but not very professionals. Is what you get for signing up to a cheap tour. stay away...

Me and my girlfriend had a very bad experience with the agency Lizatours. We bought one tour and they put us in other boat (because they had seats left). The boat ride was uncomfortable and almost dangerous. They promised lunch at 2pm and we only ate after 4pm.
Yet the views were truly beautiful

Everything was great after we found our boat in the morning. It is mass confusion what gate your boat is at and then which boat of several. Maybe it’s easier if you speak Spanish. Thankfully several locals who work there and help foreigners were so friendly and helpful.

The boat ride, island, lunch, beach were all perfect. We went to Rosario archipelago - Cartagena de Indias

We asked (in Spanish) if the islands are crowded and indicated that our preference to go to a non-crowded and not very touristy beach. We were told that Isla Bella will have a maximum of 80 people for the day as they only send 2 boats per day (40 ppl in each boat). When we arrived it turned out that only one small section of the beach (belongs to the tour company) has 80 slots. The rest of the beach is subdivided into equally small and crowded sections. We were told that there would be a complimentary kayaking. However, only 2 kayak boats were available, with only one normal paddle. The other one was broken in half and offered as two paddles to us. We took one of the two kayaks and it was full of water making the navigation difficult. As we were going on the kayak, it capsized and we lost a snorkeling mask as well as some other items. We could recover only a part of them. We didn't dare to go back to the shore with two people on the kayak, one of us kept swimming next to it. The lunch was surprisingly good. The snorkeling was ok as it again was overcrowded.
Overall, if looking for a nice beach day, consider going elsewhere, not to the Rosario Islands.

I booked my trip to the Rosario Island through my hotel. They suggested the Gente de Mar resort on Isla Grande. I opted to go as I preferred a more quiet atmosphere. The spot that I chose on the beach to sun bathe was very low key and everyone was relaxing and quiet, not like the horror stories I’ve read in the reviews for the other beaches on Rosario. The boat ride, facilities, a welcome drink and food were included in my package. All went as expected. However, please note the boat ride back to Cartagena is less than desirable. The sea gets really rough around 3pm and beyond. Our captain had some great maneuvering skills however, a prayer may help too.
