You will love these islands but Americans should know this is not a resort outing. If you don’t speak some Spanish this will be quite an adventure. We opted for tickets that included a meal and a stop at the aquarium. The trip starts on a bus, which takes you to the tip of a peninsula. The beach, with bars, restaurants and music; is here. It’s crowded and noisy but great fun. There is shade, there are hammocks and beach chairs. If you visit the aquarium, you will be pointed to boats. The waves are rough and boarding looks terrifying but you will be physically picked up and placed in the boat by highly skilled, strong men. You are not in the land of liability lawsuits here. The boat trip is great fun. Most passengers will be Colombian. Every single person will be helpful but don’t expect much English. You will see lovely islands and fish. The aquarium is excellent and the educational show is very good. English translations are good. There’s food and drink available but you won’t have much time for that. Back on the boat, you return to the beach for lunch. Vegetarians have limited options. We enjoyed our meal without fish. You eat and relax a bit, then back on the bus. It’s a long day, but worth every minute and $.

It was a terrible experience, the place did not meet the expectations of what we wanted, we arrived and the welcome cocktail did not have any liquor, nor was there water in the bathrooms, therefore those of us who were with children were terrible, in the middle of a pandemic and neither to wash our hands we had water, the slide did not work so we did not have many options the adults, the maintenance of the place does not look very good, nothing to do with the photos, the customer service very regular, the truth is that I felt ripped off as tourist, I would not recommend them because it is because of you that foreigners are reluctant to trust these types of plans. We finally paid 640,000 Colombian pesos for 4 adults and a 4-year-old girl, to spend volume_up search content_copy share

We did a boattrip for a whole day. They recommended us the big tourist boat as the sea sometimes is very wild...and so it was! There was also some "amusement" like contests on the boat and very loud music. It was too much, we didn't like it

They pickup at your hotel then you have to go to the harbor. After the ticket for go to the Harbor (only cash) you have to thing what you have to do all day long. You must order the lunch, you can choice between chicken and fish. During the wait before boarding you can drink an excellent orange juice. In the boat you must wear always your life jacket. The boat run at 30-35 miles for hour. The sea at rosario is beautiful you can make snorkeling (extra charge) or sea the Aquario (extra charge). The Aquario is interesting but sometimes you can’t see the dolphins show because your boat is waiting. For the lunch you go to the Playa Blanca. The drink are extra charge.

Pick up was at 7 from our hotel, guide spoke English. Didn’t leave the dock until around 9am. The boats are dingy dual engine transport types that serves no luxury by any means. You’re sitting on padded rows of 5 maybe and no where to hold. The ocean does get rough near the afternoon so our rides to Tranquila and back to Baru was quite the adventure! Waves to get high, boats are not equipped to withstand speed plus hitting waves plus 20 ppl so there will be screaming haha and a bumpy ride. HOWEVER. For everyone complaining about this part in this review, it doesn’t take away from the fact that the beaches/islands visited are beautiful. The captain, the tour company etc can not predict the waves or the weather for the day. We got to all four beaches, Rosario, baru, tranquila, and cholon. Lunch was either fried fish or chicken served w rice, salad, a one drink at baru. It’s a hellova day where you’re constantly on the go, snorkeling, swimming, boating, etc so if you’re not physically prepared for this, (you’re also fighting waves getting in and out of the boat!), this may not be the tour for you. I had a blast personally, thought the bumpy boat ride was super fun, like a rollercoaster :) but can see why older folk or ppl w injuries etc. or complain-y folk used to cruise ships would not be ok w this. One star down only because I felt the boat could’ve been a tad less crowded but maybe our day was just a popular one.
