We were fortunate to visit with a local guide who provided an interesting perspective on the history of the fortress. Although the climb is a little steep, it's definitely doable - just take your time (and consider going a little earlier in the morning -...More

The entire back story of this place is amazing - how it was built to protect Spanish interests from English (and other) pirates. It has an amazing view of the city beyond.

Really enjoyed visiting the fort. Great views from the top and a great place for photos. Go in the morning or afternoon as it is hot and humid mid day. It is a steep hike to the top also. Lots of cool tunnels inside to...More

The view is amazing and worth the climb, but it definitely is not easy on a hot day - we were there on a day 30C+ with high humidity.

What a great UNESCO site. Inspirational, beautiful, historic. We visited on a blue-sky day and got the most amazing photos.

Great place to spend half a day exploring the ramparts and parts of the tunnels. Tunnels are quite small and in some places dimly lit which for me added to the atmosphere however if you don’t like small spaces, might be worth avoiding. Has a...More
