Nothing tourist oriented with this market. You step into the place where people sell cat food out of bags next to spices and nuts. There is everything from fish to chicken to fruits I could not name and electronics vendors to boot. Prepare for unsavory...More

This is a gritty street market that gives you a culinary insight into Cartagena "outside of the wall". Vegetables, fruits that you do not know, butchery that you do not know and non existent refrigeration. That being said the sights the smells, the fried fish...More

There’s really nothing to visit here. Maybe because it was Sunday and the afternoon but it was fairly empty. It smelled bad. And we felt uncomfortable. This is not your tourist oriented vendor market. This is for locals. If you do want to go, go...More

These tourguides work tomearn money for the charity FEM. Dedicated and very inspiring young people who give a really interesting tour around the Bazurto market. Tasting fruit, learning about the history and even getting your personalized drawing from the artist that makes the posters for...More

We were planning to go to this market and had 3 different locals highly recommend not going due to safety and security issues (people grabbing your wallet out of your hands). We had our taxi do a drive by tour and reinforced this view --...More

YOU MUST DO THIS WITH A GUIDE! We started in the area where we saw people cooking and serving fish. We then moved into the meat/fish market followed by the fruit/vegetable area. If we did not have a guide I am sure that we would...More

I wanted to see authentic Cartagena and this certainly delivered. We went with a guide and I think that is the way to go. A visit really is a great experience. The people were very nice and we felt safe. You will see things for...More

If you want to see how and where some locals do their shopping, this a great experience. Yes, it's busy, crowded and dirty, but everyone is friendly. Although one should not walking around with flashy jewelry, it felt entirely safe.

After some of the reviews we weren't sure about this place, but it's a great look at real Cartagena life outside of the walled city and we would totally recommend going. We went at 10am on a weekday and it was busy but not insane....More

The market was one of the many stops on a 4 hour tour I took. If you decide to go, I would not recommend going without the guidance of a local. It's huge, packed with people, hot, dirty, and smelly. Be sure to keep an...More

We were very pleased with Duran Duran Tours. They took us to market where we shopped for items that we then used to prepare a meal in their home. Cooking class was good and made going to the market purposeful.

Yes, we were there last month and used Cartagena Connections and they were fabulous. I would ask for Jan (John in German). We was excellent, knew all the nooks and crannies, what to eat, and spoke great english.
