The experience is amazing to be inside mud feeling as if there's nothing under the feet. The tour group that took us there informed us about all the costs. There are services like taking pictures, massage, washing at the Volcano and each of them are for 4000 pesos. One must not be duped by the travel agent who mention one... More

I really enjoyed getting into the medicinal mud bath. The temperature of the mud was nice and you actually floated and did not have to hold yourself up. It is a once in a lifetime experience that I recommend for everybody. Of course like many places around, you have people trying to help you for a price and this can... More

I know this is somewhat of a tourist trap, but it is so much fun and such an adventure, it was a highlight of our trip. Of course, if you are wary of being touched by strangers, this is NOT for you. We paid a special taxi about $65 + tip for the round-trip (it's about one hour from Cartagena).... More

This was a very negative experience for me. We did not have good instructions. - you really need to bring rubber shoes, for example! - and I burned and bruised my feet on the hot pebbles. You have to be able to climb a very rickety staircase to the top, and when we were there there was a crowd, so... More

Unique experience to say the least. The entrance ticket is 10,000 pesos, quite affordable. Be prepared, the locals will swarm you with hospitality and then expect to be tipped afterwards. Everything from watching your shoes, to massaging you in the mud, to rinsing the mud off of you. For me, it was all quite worth it. The prices are still... More

I would stay away. It is too bad that you have a unique venue that is ruined by local hustlers. BEWARE when you return to your car you have 10 people waiting with their hands out. I held your camers I need 20 thousand pesos, I showed you where the stairs were, another 20 thousand pesos. It goes on and... More

I had a blast. I loved this place. If you like nature and enjoy watching how locals really live, then this place is for you. Please do not visit if you hate mud. Please go without expectations and be ready to have an adventure. You will discover a place that is unique. The Volcano El Totumo is one hour away... More

We took a private car from Cartagena (for about $100USD) to avoid being caught in a long line with other tourists. The second you arrive, you'll be greeted by half a dozen or more local townspeople who speak little to no English and with whisk you through the process of this little adventure. If you don't like being put in... More

This is about 45mins away from the city center of Cartagena. This was something I really wanted to do after seeing it on the Amazing Race TV show. It was quit a different experience. I skipped the whole face mud part and just did the body. Watch out for the guys there who take your camera, take pictures and then... More

Visited this mud volcano with friends today but it was not worth it at all. Very tiny 'pool' with way too many people in it. Definitely not a place to relax. Afterwards there are no proper showers, you have to 'clean' yourself in the river and the locker situation is very unsafe. It's one big safe so it caused someone... More
