If seeing fish is what you want to do, I'd highly recommend this tour instead of one of the day trips to the Rosario Islands.

We booked a snorkeling excursion for two people and were thrilled with all of the fish we saw. We did snorkeling with a guide in two different locations, and felt very safe. They provided snorkels, fins, etc. We somewhat regretted not going SCUBA diving instead, but we still had a blast. After we got done diving they took us to the highly recommended Blue Apple beach resort for around two hours of relaxation and lunch (not included) before they took us back. They prefer to be paid in cash, but they're pretty relaxed - we went to a cash machine once we were back on shore and settled up.

My husband and I have snorkeled in a bunch of places around the world and Paraiso Dive provided the most attentive service of them all! We were picked up at a dock very near to our hotel to join with a small group of divers at varying levels of experience. There were several multi-lingual guides so that each group was well looked after. Our lead guide, Paola, is a biologist with great knowledge of the area and explained the life of the reef as well as identifying fish and coral. We went on this adventure with friends who are a little less comfortable in the water, but they felt reassured by a life buoy being kept nearby as well as the boat always in sight. We went to two dive spots, the Fenix Beach Club for a delicious lunch, and enjoyed great panoramic views of Cartagena on the boat ride back home. Clean and comfortable equipment was provided (including sun shirts). Snacks and water were always available and the boat quite comfortable. It’s a very professionally run company and we truly enjoyed our day with Paraiso Dive.

My partner and I did our open water course with Paraíso Dive. I've been wanting to learn since I was a child, but my partner, though interested, was apprehensive about all the equipment. Jota patiently spent time to walk through all of his concerns the day before and made sure he was comfortable and reassured about the safety of the sport. We did our actual classes with Dani, who was an excellent instructor. Because of Colombia recently reopening, we were lucky to have just the two of us, but Jota mentioned that even in high season they keep the classes small. Despite the less than ideal visibility due to the storm, we both had a great time and got to see a few different coral reefs that were in good condition as well as a few shipwrecks. Diving was everything I hoped it would be and my partner had a blast as well! We can't wait to dive again. As an added bonus we were able to relax at blue apple afterwards and, though pricey by Colombian standards, the food was excellent and worth the splurge. Overall we had an awesome two days with Paraíso Dive and we will definitely be back to check out the new dive center Jota and Dani are opening on Isla Grande.

We booked four private dives for our family of four plus an additional two dives with a group. We also enjoyed relaxing and eating at the Blue Apple resort in between and after dives. They also accommodated my father in law joining us on the boat. Our private dives included our teenage(14) daughter getting her open water dives for her certification under Jota’s instruction. We felt in great hands from our initial booking and throughout our dives. It was very helpful that we could communicate with Jota in English since we don’t speak Spanish. Jota and the entire team (Eduardo and Ronaldo) are knowledgeable, safety conscious, friendly and work hard to ensure a great experience. They’re also passionate about responsible diving. The diving was amazing as well - beautiful coral; we loved the underwater museum and ship wreck. We’d highly recommend Paraiso Dive.

We chose a snorkeling trip with this group because of all the good reviews, but we had a completely different experience!
At first, there was a lot of confusion around the meeting point, which was suddenly changed. Such things can happen, but after that there were a lot of waiting time with no information from the staff.
When we finally got into the water, there was almost nothing to see. We had been told that we could receive instructions in diving with the snorkel, which was very difficult since the guide hardly spoke English. After two snorkel stops, we were dropped off at a resort, but here they require extra payment for sunbeds and they were very insistent that we must constantly buy drinks and food at the place!
The resort even tried to cheat us on the bill, which added up to the bad experience!

When we finally wanted to confront the staff with our experience and questioned their way of organizing, we were greeted with a provocative response: “when don’t pay”.
That was absolutely not what we wanted to do, of-cause we will pay! However we would like to explain why we did not have a good experience with them.
To us, they do not seem very professional, especially when it comes to handling customer service.

I would never recommend this trip to people who wants to snorkel. It's a completely ridiculous price for 2 snorkel stops, only to be dropped off at a resort where you are have to pay extra.

I had a great experience with Paraiso Dive in Cartagena, Jota and Christina love what they do and you can tell. The dive sites we visited were beautiful, healthy coral with diverse sea life, wrecks and an underwater sculpture garden. I am Padi Advanced Certified and would recommend Paraiso to both experienced and beginning divers. Their home base at Blue Apple Beach House is also a great plus and the perfect place to relax after morning dives.

I had a great time with them. They were very transparent during the booking process about only taking tours that have more than one person booked. I was able to get my trip booked when one other person joined. Unfortunately, that person no called, no showed. Since I was already there, they didn't cancel my tour and I was the only diver.

What I appreciated the most was that they still went out of their way to make me feel welcome despite the fact that they lost money by only taking me on (that other passenger refused to pay the 20% no show fee which I think was a jackass move as his excuse was that he couldn't be bothered to leave his bed).

The tour itself was pretty great. The first dive took us around a huge reef where we saw a lot of different fish. The second dive was to see an old war turret shell that is floating at the bottom. I also got the chance to see José (one of the divemasters) spear hunt some lionfish (legal because lionfish are incredibly invasive in the Caribbean sea). We saw many other critters here that weren't present at the other site like trumpetfish, flamingo tongues mating, and large crabs and lobsters.

The dives were great and the service was phenomenal. 10/10 would go back for more.

10/10 would recommend you scuba with Paraiso Dive!

My girlfriend and I had an awesome time scuba diving with Jota and Luci. They were both super chill & really patient as we had never scuba’d before. Took about 10 minutes underwater to get the hang of things but felt safe & comfortable the whole time. Saw tons of cool fish, a couple lobsters, and a few schools of fish too.

Jota and Luci made sure to point out fish that weren’t as easy to spot for inexperienced divers.

After our two dives we had lunch at Blue Apple Resort and relaxed by the pool. It was a great follow up to an active morning/afternoon

To everyone who is looking for a place to dive in Colombia - do it with Paraiso Dive in Cartagena! The underwater experience in Cartagena is unique and the team of Paraiso Dive knows the best spots. I did the PADI open water course and it was one of my absolute highlights of my trip to Colombia. Communcation and booking went really easy via WhatsApp and they were happy to answer any questions or even reschedule the trip according to your availability and the weather conditions. My diving instructor Dani was a really good and fun teacher. The course included 4 dives in which I saw the most beautiful coral reef, lots of colorful fishes and we even swam through shipwrecks. They always had enough snacks and water on the boat and clearly made sure that everyone is having a great time. You won't only dive or snorkel here, but also become part of the diving community and meet new friends as you're enjoying a after-dive beer in the Ciudad Amarullada ;-) I will definitely come back!

The team at Paraiso Dive Cartagena is world class, and I can’t think of anywhere else I would have rather done my PADI Open Water. Jota was an incredibly patient instructor that really took the time to make sure everyone was comfortable and also mastering the skills needed to dive. We had amazing dives, with our final one being my absolute favorite with the clearest water and the reef teeming with life.

If you’re looking to get certified, this is the place. If you’re already certified, this is the place! They organize great dives and every member of the team is amazing (and professional).

Absolute highlight of my time in Cartagena.
