The Plaza behind the Clock Tower
Jun 2019
This Plaza has the Clock Tower, the Pedro de Heredia, and the great Candy Market. When we were therein the Summer the place was hoping.
A fun place to visit.

Sweets Market closed on Sunday
Aug 2019
We walked through here on Sunday, admiring the empty plaza on our way towards the clock tower.
Monday, we walked through again, but this time it was bustling with the sweets market, which we walked through this time. The Baby shaped sweets are available at multiple vendors. Lots of coconut candies here too.
Worth a walk through, just to see it.

Another Disappointing Cartagena Plaza
Jun 2019 • Solo
Plazas in South American cities (e.g. Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Quito, etc) are usually incredible, full of life and great places to hang out, relax, and watch the world go by. Not so much in Cartagena, where they instead tend to lack decent shade and places to sit, are full of overly pushy vendors preying on the tourists, and just are not great for hanging out. Plaza de los Coches is an excellent example. It has lots of activity with people passing through the clock tower, but it is just not a good place to sit and relax.

Very beautiful square
Jun 2018 • Solo
When you pass Torre del Reloj the first thing you see is this fantastic square.
Lot of beautiful buildings and a lot of people (both tourist and locals).

One of the entrances to the city to get the best sweets
Feb 2019 • Couples
Around the bend we walked into another open space known as the Square of Cars or Plaza de Los Coches, so named because the mayor allowed cars to park in front of the numerous sweet shops that line the edge of the square. This is also known as the Portal de Los Dulces and Sam pointed out that you can find the best sweets in Cartagena here.

Be specific.
Mar 2019 • Solo
The entrance to the walled city, the meeting place of all tours and the most recognisable landmark of the city, you can’t avoid it. There are loads of people and it covers a large area. If you’re meeting someone at the clock tower, you’re going to need to be more specific; it’s a needle in a haystack to find any during peak periods (tour time 9am) and night time. Beyond the court yard is the entrance to a maze of side streets, colour and local shops and hawkers.

Nice part of the city
Mar 2019 • Couples
Here is one of the entries to the old city. Nice area with shops, bars, restaurants and colonial streets and houses.

Lovely area
Feb 2019 • Couples
This plaza is directly in front of you as you walk into the walled city. You get a taste of the beautiful architecture you’re in store for as you stroll the streets.

Lovely colonial area of Cartagena
Jan 2019 • Couples
The plaza is lovely, I wish we had been able to spend more time here. Unfortunately, we were continually hounded by people trying to sell us stuff and ladies dressed in traditional costumes trying to get us to take a picture with them. Some were very gracious when we said no, some not so much. We didn't feel unsafe, just didn't appreciate being pestered so much. Worth visiting due to the beautiful architecture and shopping, but you need more than a couple of hours to see it properly and be prepared to have lots of street vendors trying to sell you stuff.

Avoid it late night
Dec 2018
This is an iconic stop in Cartagena. During the day expect to be hassled by vendors selling typical tourist junk and tours. After 10 pm, be prepared for creepy men shopping the available selection of young women for sale. Very uncomfortable!
