This cat park is so cool and original. It was a lot of fun see all the cat sculptures with their unique designs. And the location (riverside park) was outstanding. My only comment is that I wish it that the description signs for each cat had English translations.

This appears to be an iconic symbol of Cali and worth visiting. Makes a lovely stroll and you are shaded from the sun under the trees. I went twice. Nicer on a weekend afternoon when it was busy, had a cool atmosphere with some handicraft stalls too. The second time I went on a Tuesday afternoon, it was quiet and it felt isolated. There is a story behind each cat, but information boards are in Spanish. I had a guide with me the second time I went so it was very interesting when he explained this to me. Otherwise you will just look at cat statues!

This is a must see when in Cali. The statues are a plenty and quite unique. I suggest having a guide present to fully understand the backstory of the monuments. The uniqueness of each statue will reveal certain characteristics of the artist and how they represented Cali within their art. It’s also a great place to see a local iguana and to birdwatch at the end of the statues! There are tons of food places around the area as well. Once you arrive you’ll soon see why this is one of the most visited spots in Cali.

This is a popular sight in Cali, but the park around it with many other cats, by different artists, is even more interesting. There are some very inventive designs and it’s a pleasant location alongside the Cali river.

Great for an evening stroll and there is a good place to eat outside around the corner. There is also a fountain a couple of blocks away that is nice,

Parque El Gatos De Tejada is an amusing place of interest in Cali. As you enter the park along the Cali River you‘re greeted by El Gato del Rio - a three-ton bronze sculpture created by late Colombian artist Hernando Tejada!

Tejada moved to Cali from Bogota at the age of 14 and donated the sculpture in 1996, two years before his death. El Gato De Tejada is part of a municipal improvement project designed to beautify the northern banks of the Cali River.

In 2006, the project expanded to include 15 smaller but colorful felines. Each sculpture is cast in the same shape but painted by a different local artist. The cats all have unique stories displayed on plaques in Spanish below the name of the artist. The sculptures are feline depictions of women.

Tejada was born in 1924 in Pereira, Risaralda a coffee-producing area in the Andes foothills. He studied at the National University of Bogota's School of Fine Arts.

Although oil painting and sculpture were Tejada’s primary mediums, his work includes drawings, photography, and even audio-visual. The talented Tejada learned his fresco technique from Luis Ignacio Gómez Jaramillo, his teacher at the National University of Bogota. Gomez developed his Renaissance technique in Mexico from muralist Diego Rivera.

Just in front of El Peñon and just across the Colombia Avenue, you must stop and observe this master piece of sculture, a black cat stand over the river bank. behind there are a wine bar and also a jazz place, and pizza shop, all you need to enrich your soul and body
