A pretty common weekend itinerary, I drove to chicamocha and then continued on to San Gil and Barichara. Chicamocha park has some fun rides, such as a big swing and zip line. The canyon is beautiful. I wish you could rent mountain bikes to descend to the river and return on the gondola.

Note, the parque is about 1.5-2 hours South of Bucaramanga, depending on traffic and your willingness to pass slow trucks on a windy road.

50 km more or less from Bucaramanga is PaNaChi, (Chicamocha National Park), where tourists find, places with goats and ostriches, monument (Monumento a la Santandereanidad) and another options like food, park, playground. The best option is get Panachi by bus and return to Bucaramanga using the Cableway, the cableway lenght is 6,3km and crosses the canyon of Chicamocha river

Panachi, also known as Chicamocha National Park, 50km from Bucaramanga, Colombia, is the site of a top-notch tourist attraction. Not only does it possess a spectacular landscape featuring the Chicamocha canyon, the second deepest canyon worldwide, it offers a large variety of outdoor activities such as paragliding, spelunking, bushwalking, camping, fishing, kayaking, rafting, mountain climbing. It even has a water park and ice skating rink. That’s right ice in the Colombian Andes! To cross the canyon you hop into a gondola that takes you from one side to the other covering a huge gain in less than 30 minutes. The park has a grand sculpture which is a monument to the commoners revolt against Spain and it is simply astonishing. You need a whole day and some to appreciate the park to its fullest! Get there early and you will surely be able to appreciate many of the parks features.

Don't be confused--Panachi is the abbreviated name for Parque Nacional de Chicamocha. The views are great, except that it is so hazy. The park is well constructed and maintained. The bathrooms, however, are disgusting. Take cash because all activities are additional. I just didn't feel like the activities were sufficient to keep any particular age group satisfied for very long. Stay off the cable ride! Hot and stuffy 40 minute ride and then at least on hour wait in line to get back.

What a fabulous place. It offers many activities. We took the gondola ride across the magnificent canyon which is deeper than the Grand Canyon. A great experience.

I went on the cable car and it was breath taking. I recommend it to anyone visiting Bucaramanga. It literally moves you.

There wasn’t a lot to do when we went here because they are closed certain days and times of day. On the weekend, it is apparently booming so during the week there wasn’t a crowd but the restaurants weren’t open. The views however, are breathtaking and definitely worth the time getting here. It was my favorite thing about Bucaramanga.

We have been visiting this park several times, if you get your ticket, don't forget to include the cablecar. It's a beautiful ride to the other side of the mountainridge, to mesa de los santos. On the other side you can visit shops and restaurants and sometimes there are shows on the "plaza". On the panachi side are the attractions, populair under young adults. There are also atractions for younger kids. Unfortunately yoy have to pay extra for every atraction you want to try. Except for the museum.

If you are on the top you have a spectaculair view.

Since a few years there is also a water paradise you can visit. We haven't used thar posibility yet but it seems to be very nice.

Don't go there during weekdays, unless it is a holiday. Most of the atractions will be closed.

This place is interesting and has beautiful views of the Chicamocha canyon. Start your visit at La Mesa De Los Santos and back.
