Tian shan has been famous in many chinese literary novels and TV shows. Its here that the hero's master has to look for rare herbs or to reflect. We had to take a bus to the mountain top. Walking was not too bad. The view was tremendous. When we came the lake had iced over and it was white upon... More

It was so unfortunate that when my husband and I visited, snow fell and the mountain was so foggy so we couldn't see anything! But it was still a winter wonderland and we enjoyed the sites. It was a very different experience for us, coming from a tropical country. I heard from our guide that the best time to visit... More

Was with a tour group and we first went on a boat tour where we cruise on the lake. Upon reaching the entrance, there will be a short hike upslope to the lake area. Quite a leisure hike given the weather was quite breezy and lovely when we were there. Buggies available at a minimal fee for tourists who are... More

We visited this lake as part of a tour of Xinjiang and this was one of the highlights of the trip. The lake and scenery around the lake are absolutely beautiful and it was very relaxing to walk around the lake, take some photos and enjoy nature. We spent a couple of hours walking around the lake and then had... More

The Heavenly Lake located within the Tianshan Scenic Resort is a must see place. Located up a steep and twisty road in the Tianshan Mountains, the lake opens up like a picture. We were lucky it had snowed earlier and all the mountains had a light dusting of snow. There are some very nice walks on permanent paths beside the... More

It was about 2-3 drive from town. Upon arrival transferred to coaches which took another 20minutes to reach near the peak. Then we switched into "holding carts" which brought us to cable car station where we took the cable car to the TOP. View was awesome. Indeed scenic with snow capped mountains in the background nd the lake fronting it.

Visited during the Golden Week Holidays but crowd was substantially less. We had a tour planned so guide managed the tickets for entrance and bus but its not a hassle. After getting down the bus, you walk for few minutes and see the beautiful view of lake with the snow capped mountains peeping over the lake. The view is absolutely... More

Spent a day during national holiday. I was expecting a lot of people. Between the snow and arriving early, we had no wait for the bus on the way in nor in the way out. Great view but having grown up in the alps, the only thing special is the Chinese temples around the lake. Kids loved playing in the... More

Instead of writing about the lake I prefer to guide how to get here from Urumqi, because anyway it is a must visit place. 1. Reach at Urumqi Beijiao passenger transport terminal till before noon. As early u start as much time you can spend at lake and on the way back easily get public transport. This terminal is at... More

Stunning, absolutely beautiful place to visit. The bus ride up the mountain gives plenty of stunning views and then you come to the beautiful lake & mountains. Walk down to the waterfalls too. Lots of steps up & down so wear good supportive shoes as it's worth it.
