The Heavenly Lake located within the Tianshan Scenic Resort is a must see place. Located up a steep and twisty road in the Tianshan Mountains, the lake opens up like a picture. We were lucky it had snowed earlier and all the mountains had a light dusting of snow. There are some very nice walks on permanent paths beside the... More

It was about 2-3 drive from town. Upon arrival transferred to coaches which took another 20minutes to reach near the peak. Then we switched into "holding carts" which brought us to cable car station where we took the cable car to the TOP. View was awesome. Indeed scenic with snow capped mountains in the background nd the lake fronting it.

Visited during the Golden Week Holidays but crowd was substantially less. We had a tour planned so guide managed the tickets for entrance and bus but its not a hassle. After getting down the bus, you walk for few minutes and see the beautiful view of lake with the snow capped mountains peeping over the lake. The view is absolutely... More

Spent a day during national holiday. I was expecting a lot of people. Between the snow and arriving early, we had no wait for the bus on the way in nor in the way out. Great view but having grown up in the alps, the only thing special is the Chinese temples around the lake. Kids loved playing in the... More

Instead of writing about the lake I prefer to guide how to get here from Urumqi, because anyway it is a must visit place. 1. Reach at Urumqi Beijiao passenger transport terminal till before noon. As early u start as much time you can spend at lake and on the way back easily get public transport. This terminal is at... More

Stunning, absolutely beautiful place to visit. The bus ride up the mountain gives plenty of stunning views and then you come to the beautiful lake & mountains. Walk down to the waterfalls too. Lots of steps up & down so wear good supportive shoes as it's worth it.

If you are a Westerner touring here be prepared to stick out like a sore thumb and you might be the very first westerner some of the people touring this lake have seen so you might turn into the tourist attraction. You have to get on two different buses to access this site but it is well worth the drives... More

It is really a beautiful lake, postcard like scenery. For anyone who could not walk uphill, you could hike a car and pay around 10Y or so.

It is a must go if you intend to visit Urumqi, Xinjiang. It is not difficult to go there from Urumqi. You can either book a car or join a 1-day local tour. If you go there on your own, try to avoid Friday or weekend to shun the crowd. This is one of the most beautiful lakes on earth.... More

We went to tianchi lake in the beginning of August. It took us approximately 2 hours from ürumqi to get to the lake. You have to buy a ticket to enter the area (which you have to at almost every major touristic scenery in Xinjiang province) However it was worthwhile. From the parking lot, there are busses that will drive... More
