Best Tour of Chengdu

In July, we went to Chengdu as a part of our large tour of China. We went to see the pandas, visited a Sichuan Opera, and toured the local streets of Chengdu with traditional Sichuan Cuisine. Our guide Helen was very helpful during this trip. She was always trying to get us to places on time and made sure we did everything we could. This was especially helpful during our stop to see the pandas as it was really crowded and busy. In addition to this trip, she was able to get us last-minute tickets to visit an authentic opera with famous face-changing masks. During our car rides, she was very informative, making sure we had all the information about the beautiful city. We recommend staying there for more than a day as there are more things to do other than seeing the pandas. Helen was very attentive and always cheerful. We definitely recommend her for people who want to be more knowledgeable of Chengdu and want someone who is very caring towards their needs.

The roof top of the world!

Another great trip organized by Christy from China Highlights, who put together a great itinerary at the last minute after a planned trip to Tibet fell through. Chengdu is a wonderful city, worth exploring in its own right. I spent a delightful first afternoon and last morning wandering the shady streets and temples, and managed to squeeze in a night at the opera, Sichuan style. The middle six days I spent driving to and exploring Yading Nature reserve, then driving across the Tibetan Plateau back to Chengdu. The spectacular views made the long drive times a little easier. It was a LOT of driving! Once back in Chengdu, The Panda breeding center was a highlight. Very carefully thought out and well run.

Tibetan views and culture without permit application

Our tour was organized by Alisa and Henry Li instead of the canceled tour to Tibet and it was a very good substitution. In fact, sometimes I forgot that we are in Sichuan and felt like we were traveling in Tibet.

China Highlight, as usual, organized a great itinerary - we traveled from Chengdu to Daocheng Yading and back by car and had numerous opportunities to enjoy the mountain views in various weather. We hiked in the Yading area for two days and while it was very challenging, the views were worth it.

I'd like to highlight the professionalism of Henry Li - our guide. He did a very good job in understanding our preferences and adjusting the trip accordingly. For example, he adjusted the itinerary in such a way that we visited Pandas in the first half of the day - when they were very active and playful.

Great Experience

We designed a three day private tour of Chengdu including the panda research center, Sichuan cooking experience, Qingyang Palace, Jinli old street, People’s Park, Leshan Grand Buddha and more. Alisa was extremely helpful in helping craft us the itinerary that we wanted and Michael was an awesome tour guide - he was very knowledgeable about all of the sights we went to see and he was really kind, too. This was our first China Highlights trip but we will definitely book with them again!

Come for the pandas, stay for the food!

My wife and I arranged for an 11-day multi-city tour of China with China Highlights.

Our guide in Chengdu was Helen, who made the best of an unexpected flight schedule change that meant we basically only had one full day in Chengdu. She suggested an early start the next day to catch the pandas at their best at the Giant Panda Reserve, and we indeed had a great time seeing the pandas and red pandas. This was followed by a delicious tasting menu at a Sichuan restaurant – she took us at our word that we would gladly eat spicy, and we got to enjoy several different small bites, perfect for us. This was our best meal in China!

We spent the rest of our visit in Chengdu on an afternoon visit to a Buddhist temple, and a local park with its throngs of Sunday visitors singing karaoke, reading pink & blue ads at the marriage market, and enjoying boating on the lake.

Helen is extremely enthusiastic, very eager to share all her knowledge of Chengdu history. We warmly recommend her as a guide for this area.

Awesome food, amazing places: Western Sichuan

We just completed the 6 day Western Sichuan Tour, and Adventure from Chengdu, with China Highlights, and what an adventure it was! We also added the One Day Chengdu Food Tour to our itinerary. This tour allows you to see so much of this beautiful and fascinating part of China, and to also really get off the beaten track and enjoy some incredibly charming hotels along the way. Alisa was so helpful in answering my numerous questions as we booked the trip and our guide Michael and driver Mr. Wu took excellent care of us. Of course the first day of this itinerary included a visit to the Wolong Panda base, but Sichuan province has so much more to offer. Thanks to China Highlights for another perfectly planned trip full of unforgettable experiences. Looking forward to our next journey with you.

2 Fantastic Days in Chengdu with Helen

We had an amazing couple of days in Chengdu as part of our 2 week holiday in China. Helen was our tour guide and she was fabulous!! She had so much passion for her job it was infectious!! We went to see the pandas and Helen was able to navigate the site to ensure we were able to see the various panda houses and try and minimise the waiting time, we then experienced very local Sizhuan Opera which was intriguing and very entertaining. The following day we went to the peoples park which was very interesting and Helen was able to give us the background to the park and introduced us to some amazing activities and encourage us to participate. Our last stop was the Wenshu Monestry which was beautiful and again Helen was very knowledgable and led us around the monestry with great explanations behind what we were seeing. Helen also took us to some fabulous local restaurants and we ate incredibly well.

Thank you Helen for making the few days in Chengdu so special and we will for sure be back!!

One of memorable experience of our visit to China

I strongly recommend this program for anyone plan to visit China, specifically Chengdu. Our guide Helen warmly took care of us. 3 nights of staying in Chengdu are enough for visiting key sites specifically Panda Research Center and Leshan Giant Buddha. We definitely looking forward to revisit Chengdu for our future China’s exploration. China Highlight will surely our pick for guided tour service.

Family China trip

We enjoyed our trips around Chengdu with Jason, China Highlights. We were on two trips - Panda Research Base and Leshan Budda. Jason took us to really good restaurant with dumplings as we told before that we like them :) The next day he presented the famous hot pot and helped us to cook it. During the trips he was very careful with our needs and was following them, what is really important while travelling with small kids. Our driver was also good, helpful with luggage and good-driving. They also had 2 baby carseats. Definitely recommend.

VISIT TO CHENGDU

Visit to Chengdu
My wife and I visited Chengdu and were met by our guide, Helen, the moment we got off the train. Helen was excellent looking after us for a couple of days whilst taking us to visit the Giant and Red Panda Sanctuary, walking around the city, assisting us with places to eat. Helen was extremely knowledgeable of the places we visited and has excellent english, we will be going back in the future and would definitely request Helen as our guide again
