We spent a lovely afternoon here with our guide from Buffalo Tours (Lisa). We drank Tea, we watched people having their ears cleaned! and we learnt all about blind date corner. This is basically where parents advertise their children for marriage and meet up in the park with other parents who are also trying to marry off their kids. This could catch on haha. Had a chat with some lovely locals and a lovey wander about. VERY humid on the day we were here in August.

Renman park is a local park used by the locals. It is really beautiful. Don't forget to buy a toffee on a stick. They make you spin a wheel and the zodiac that comes up they will make a toffee on a stick to match. Cheap and delicious. There is also a part where everyone goes to have tea. Very popular although I personally didn't enjoy the tea, doesn't matter as it is really cheap, and it is worth sitting with the locals who play games and drink tea. There are also people who can clean your ears. A bit messy for us but also popular for the locals. Enjoy the gardens and sit with the locals. They even had a band playing on the day we went, and there is a part where people look for future partners. Interesting to look at as well.

Renmen park teahouse is a teahouse in a park. It's perfectly pleasent if you happen to be in Renmen park, but not really worth travelling too from the other side of town! It's Chengdu - there are good teahouses in EVERY park, all very similar.

Go to play cards with a friend or read a book for a few hours. Relax and enjoy the city!

This is a teahouse that the locals visit. It is located in Chengdu's Peoples' Park and is a great place to spend an hour with a friend or with family. We were there on a tour of Chengdu so it was especially nice to be able to sit and chat as well as people watch. The tea was lovely and served in unusual cups which are more like small flared porcelain bowls with lids and sit securely on a saucer. The chairs, made of bamboo and slightly reclining, are unusual as well.

There are many things to do in this park and enjoying tea in this tea house is one of the most authentic experiences we participated in during our long weekend in Chengdu. For around $2.50 you can buy some tea that comes with a thermos of water from which you can refresh your leaves over and over again. Many families and friends use the tea house to spend hours with each other, visiting or playing Chinese Hess or Mah Jong. There are roaming ear cleaners who will clean the wax out and provide you with a chair massage.

Very authentic tea house situated in the middle of the park. Extremely popular with the locals. Be prepared to be stared at if you're not local but not in any malice. Would only suggest if your chinese is good as the menus due not have an English version unlike the more touristy places.

In the People's Park, there is the Renmen Park Teahouse. It overlooks the water. Grab a table, order some tea and relax. This is something that the Chengu people know how to do....life is more laid-back in Chengdu than other cities like Beijing or Shanghai.

I went on a rainy day in March and it was a bit cold. The peach flowers were starting to bloom in the park. Headed over to Renmen Park Teahouse for some traditional tea. It was 35 RMB for 2 cups of tea...they also bring you over a thermos full of hot water so you can refill the water to make more tea in your cup.

I also got my ears cleaned and washed for 100 RMB...a little pricey and would have been thoroughly fine with just the cleaning for 20 RMB. We also order some sweet and spicy dumplings, a staple food from the Chengdu people.

Overall, a great day albeit a bit cold. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because the tea house is a bit dirty but its authentic with locals.....

This is a great place to sit if the weather is decent and people-watch for an hour or two, or just open a book and read. The tea is not too expensive compared to the super touristy areas of Chengdu, and it's just a nice area to see locals relaxing. They also have a menu from the Zhong Shui Jiao 钟水饺 snack place next door, so you can order the spicy dumplings, wontons, noodles, etc. and just have it brought to you. The food was actually really good and super cheap. Even if you can't read Chinese, the menu has pictures (though if you're a vegetarian, you're probably better off not ordering anything as everything has meat).

We went to a very enjoyable show with multiple mixed acts (all laid on for the tourists). And lots of tea!

Heming Teahouse is just an average Chengdu teahouse. The tea is good and the ear massage is weird - both are to be expected. It is a pleasant place to while away an hour or so. Worth visiting if you are in People's Park.
